Here it is ladies and gentleman, your moment of .

Just tried making a Hertz reservation using points (which is  in of itself) and was told the airport location where I'm trying to pick the car up is closed at the time I want to get the car.

To put this in a bit more  perspective, the airport in question only has 5 [commercial] flights / day. It is only served by one airline that serves one destination. This isn't brain surgery.

Why Hertz thinks closing their counter before the last flight is scheduled to land, thus blocking 20% of their potential customers from using them, is beyond me. This, ladies and gentleman, is why I moved out of SC. Stuff like this just grates on me and it's super prevalent everywhere you go down there.

It's not by accident SC public schools are 49th in the nation. The official state bird is the Governor. And why I would never see a man about a horse.

I think ALCO was having that issue in TYR before all his  happened.

Be prepared for disappointment. ;)

Also, the Envoy lounge doesn't open until the early afternoon. What time will you be at PHL?

I will be there mid-morning! Guess I will not see Envoy even if I could get in!!

I've run into this situation before (think it was TLH about a decade ago). And earning enough Hertz points for a rental isn't completely . The corporate code I was required to use as a corporate trainer priced at $55 a day, so I could earn a free day every 11 rental days / three weeks (or a grand total of 550 miles).

I have more than enough points, I just can't figure out how to make an award reservation on their very, very, very  site.

The sad part is that she was not. She could have scored higher by standing there and looking hot...wait....never mind.

Plus1's list will be much shorter than mine ;)

Essentials for travelling diaper bag (or the bag of death as Plus1 always called it):

At least twice as many diapers as you think you'll need. Then add some more ;)

3 pacifiers (because two will go on the floor, at least)

Bottles (if you're bottle feeding) and formula (if formula feeding). We used the small bottles that you screwed off the lid and put on the top for travel because those were more convenient (of course, more expensive too). We had a separate insulated bag to put these in.

2 blankets (and a "lovey" if they seem to like that); one usually was a taggie or similar for tactile stimulation.

2 changes of clothes; also suggest in a carry on extra shirts for the two of you just in case ;)

at least 2 bibs and 2 burp cloths (cloth diapers work well and also work well for any spills, etc.)

A couple of toys/plush animals

lots and lots of baby wipes

Antibacterial spray/sanitizer (there was an antibacterial spray I bought from Leaps and Bounds' infant catalog that was really good and made especially for infants).

Infant motrin or similar; mylicon drops, diaper cream, baby thermometer, nasal bulb

I'm sure I'm missing things but this is what I remember off the top of my head.

Layers work well for babies so you can take off/put on depending on the plane temp.

We had one specific stroller we used for travel, which made it easier than using the same one we used in town and also, I realized the plane one was going to have a bit more wear and tear. We used a Graco for travel and McClaren for home; switched to a McClaren umbrella stroller for travel when she got older.

When they get to be older, more activities (no sound please!) and more snacks (i.e. cheerios, rice puffs, other finger food). Touch and feel books are always good. The umbrella strollers are nice because it's lighter, but not as much room to put stuff (in the infant travel stroller I would put my laptop bag in the basket underneath and hang the diaper bag over the handles.

BL JR never had her bottles heated so cold or room temp was always fine because she didn't know any better.

Biggest tip I can give is don't get stressed. Even infants pick up on stress. Allow plenty of time. A cocktail always helped me too ;)

BL JR was a good traveller but there was one nightmare flight when her reflux started (it had started the day before in ATL) and it was quite possibly the longest flight of my life. I felt horrible for the passengers around me and I could do nothing. I walked around the galley with her; held her ever imaginable way; nothing helped. Things happen; do the best you can and don't worry about it. I'm sure my stress level didn't help.

I did the car seat rear facing (per what I'd read) when she was an infant; not so good on RJs! The person in front can't recline and it can make the kids airsick going backwards on descent. I really think forward facing is better!

WOW...just WOW!!! I now understand the bag situation with you and flying!!
