Good morning and merry Christmas. I was the first one in the office today -- at this point, I am of the mindset that I should be the first one to leave.

Use a real booking engine and don't worry about it. :-:

Or call it in. No booking fees for platinums.

The "trick" doesn't seem to work with this itinerary. :(

Apparently labor day BCN-EWR is sold out. the negotiator wants me to BA to LHR then UA to ORD.

I usually buy my wines at Costco. We have a huge costco near us, and it has a very good selection of wines and beers.

The extra night in BCN isn't great but also isn't terrible.

I can understand not wanting to burn a vacation day, but IME more time in BCN is always better than less.

It's their new Lufty Italia concept.

I also think that AZ was slowly abandoning MIL, leaving space for LH to step in. Not sure whether this has changed now that AZ was merged with AP.

Now off to print out Christmas cards. I have kept the list well under two books of stamps, and I'm even getting them out before Christmas this year (which happens maybe one year in three).

Random question of the day.

I want to do IAH-MUC//SZG-IAH but CO says it doesn't offer codeshares out of SZG. Should I just call to get the itinerary or should I put the IAH-MUC-IAH flights on hold?

As you probably know, SZG is maybe two hours from MUC on the Zug. Wouldn't prudence dictate putting the IAH-MUC and vv. flights on hold and calling to change?

You should be :-: with respect to weather around here. Currently 33F and climbing (38F overnight). Rain is supposed to start in a couple hours and continue non-stop through tomorrow afternoon (1-2" total), when it gets back down to freezing and we get snow, by which point you'll probably be visiting the Ayasofia.

:D ^

I was about to rebook IAH-MIA-ZRH-IST yesterday morning, but took a minute to check out the latest meteogram and detailed forecast data for ORD. Weather Underground came through for me again. Weather.com is useless.

And, here is the menu for Christmas Day: :D:D:D

Appetizers:
Roasted Beet Salad with pistachios and goat cheese
Crab-stuffed mushrooms
Brie with caramel-pecan topping

Main:
Roasted Rib-Eye Steak
Yorkshire Pudding
Creamed potatoes
Roasted potatoes
Wild mushroom and peas
Green beans with the roasted peppers and onions (a la Jerome)
Onions in cream sauce
Glazed carrots

Dessert:
Christmas pudding and custard
Mince pies
Cream puffs

Not bad. We're doing a Smokey Mo's Smoked Turkey, Mackie's Loaded Smashed Taters™, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, dressing, gravy, and beer! I think there is some cranberry sauce for those who like that sort of thing but the real treat is dessert, where there will be buttermilk pie (zomg) and a few fruit pies for those that like them.

In-laws are here, my parents are on their way up from IAH, and we're buying a house today.

It is good. :D
