It seems to me there are two ways in which Marriott is better than SPG: Gold status and property density. As an MR Gold I got upgrades to concierge lounges and whatnot. SPG Gold seems to be almost as worthless as MR Silver.

This is totally worth some mattress running. Just check in/out of two different NYC-area hotels this weekend.

Yeah, i'm not looking forward to my departure. We're on AF on the return, which i'm not sure is much better.

I'm usually morally opposed to mattress / mileage runs but I might make an exception this year as having Plat for my honeymoon would be :-:. The million dollar :rolleyes: is whether or not I'll hit Plat between now and Aug. based on booked travel for next year, thus negating the need for a mattress run. @:-)

Yeah. I was just playing around on SPG.com. Looks like I can achieve it for $200 or so.

Question is whether or not its worth spending it. I could really care less about suites when I'm traveling solo.

I like Hyatt better than SPG, but their vacation redemption properties aren't that great for me and their property footprint doesn't align with where I travel (although with the proliferation of Hyatt Places this might be changing). :-:
