To each his own, but the first scene in the first movie had a cool Stanley Kubrick reference in it. ;)

I watch about 3 movies a year to be honest, I get all technical with them and it drives me insane.

I tried to watch the last transformers and it was so botched a story I felt like leaving. I guess I just stuck around to see megan fox.

Thank you, Trustguy!;) I'm rather amazed at my posting propensity as I only joined FT at the end of March!:p:-:

See my start date and post count, for comparative purposes. :o Must do something about that...

We had a lovely Lionel train set, vintage late 50's/early 60's, that came out every Christmas till my parents either got too tired to set the things up every year or too lazy to find out how to get the transformer fixed after someone accidentally blew it (which got the fire department called to our house).

Between one or more of his three daughters, I think my dad got just about everything covered - engineering, sports, flying, beer, and WWII movies. The one major exception is Scotch drinking. :p

They will be when they get to Middle/High School and discover the cute 1st baseman. LOL

Or when we get another string of entire-city-engulfing exciting playoff runs. That's what did it for me in the mid-90's - and my sisters were very young at the time so they got to grow up on it from the get-go, despite most of the more recent years. :)

Back after another multi-day absence. Damn work.

Join the club. :(

Finished the last holiday gig this morning, did my thing for the department party, crashed for a couple hours, ordered resource-taxing photo holiday cards for my mother (much easier than talking her through things like resolution/upload/etc), and now am attempting to pack and clean in advance of tomorrow's adventure: train/subway/bus to LGA, then LGA-DFW-DEN - my first trip on AA in over 2.5 years, my first time ever in AA F, and my first wi-fi equipped plane!

If you only go to three movies a year, you need to find better ones than Transformers to watch. Just sayin'. :p

We suffered through the first one of those on DVD at home a few months back. I remember getting up to go to the bathroom during it and my partner said "You want me to pause it?" I said "No." I returned a few minutes later and said "What did I miss." His response was that anything I did while I was out of the room had to be more entertaining than the movie.

We felt no need to see the second one. First was bad enough.

Geesh. You guys generate your own power? What's the fuel?

We actually have a power grid dual fed substation in a vault right outside the building, then the generators run on Diesel or natural gas if needed, there is a day tank under each unit and a very large shared tank for the multi day runs should it be needed. In Florida you have to be prepared.

I have a bad habit of going to movies a friend wants to see instead of one I am interested in.
only when I am in miami by myself do i go to ones that i want to see, and i can't even remember when I last did that.

Same here. (and for "friends" also insert "parents, during the holidays") Mostly because I'm so unlikely to actually suggest movie-going to others, beyond the 3-ish per year that I'm willing to pay full price for.

There's a dollar theatre (which I think is actually more like $2 these days) out in Willoughby Hills, and I sometimes did the whole "3 movies in a week...since you haven't seen any of them anyway" binge while home on breaks.

I am out for a bit to go see Up in the Air, get dinner and have drinks since tomorrow is going to be an incredibly easy day at work before I get on a plane and fly to BOS.

I might return later tonight.

We live in Philadelphia, so we experienced that. Daughter #1 even saw the victory parade last year. The problem was that the Phillies are a distant second for me, so I wasn't as excited as I could have been, and the kids didn't get particularly excited either. My dad and I took the kids to whatever Jacobs Field is called these days for kids day and they lasted about three innings. Maybe when they're older.

For #2, the first baseman scenario is much more likely...

I only ever see movies on airplanes. :o I'm of the opinion that if I have to pay $30 for a babysitter, I'm going to want to talk to my wife. I may have to start doing VOD or something.

My hands are all nice and unreasonably soft for a guy thanks to it being my turn to do the dishes.

This will be only the second time I've been to a movie theater this year...the other was to see the Hangover. That's a busy year for me - I only normally go once, and watch movies on planes.

I need to go do that too, I have a stacked sink full, and no SO to even take a crack at it :D

sfogate, thank you for the effort into the dog thing. Passing along whatever intel you get is much appreciated.

I know she does want a maltipoo, and I've seen the blondish/apricot variant, and I like that ahead of pure white. I know goldendoodles can be crafted for that shade of fur color, and since we are both blond, there is no reason that our dog should not be. :p
