An old friend in the bond biness called for Thanksgiving; while I was schlepping a shopping cart around listening to Christmas music yesterday, Dubai's Sovereign Wealth Fund announced a 6 month standstill, pending restructuring, because they were technically insolvent.

Bankers say it's not a massive or important issue (:rolleyes:), but if Dubai has no money, who does? Now bonds are rising sharply, the USD is rallying, and stock futures, copper, silver, oil, and all the other carry trade darlings are down.

Never fade the bond market, but there are a lot more yachts named "Contrarian" than there are named "I Follow my Newletter's Advice."

Completely full up front. Thankfully, I had a bulkhead, and the seats were the newer KL Angled-Flats (not the old-school recliners). Nice, big AVOD screens, too. Pity the sound didn't work for my seat (didn't matter, though, as I was out like a light after dinner).

That was my first taste of KL up front for long-haul. I'm definitely going to miss having that as an 80K redemption opportunity.

I noticed that this morning along with US equity futures down sharply. Guess I got lucky in liquidating more than half of my portfolio for the down payment on the condo last week.

I've been using them heavily for years simply because they seem to run at the times that I need and also I have always liked the comfort of their seats.

However, they are still available for miles that I get, although putting up only 80K SkyMiles frequently will only get you the caboose.

When they had the big sale of assets at the Javits Center, a friend bought a 24-cup box of fancy coffee mugs with the Drexel logo, and the caption "No Guts, No Glory." I had a couple, but they, like Drexel, ran into trouble over the years.

And you're not that old.

Well, I still have some skin in the game but at least I got the $ out that I know I will need in the next 2 months. Tomorrow doesnt look like it will be much fun at work if there is heavy volume. :(

A funny thing happened to me when I got to FRA this morning after mr fozz went to catch his flight I headed to the A pier. I entered the lounge and showed a F BP to get in, and the agent was like " Oh mr :rolleyes:, we have been waiting for your arrival" At first I thought oh oh they want the ducks back :eek:;)
She got on the phone and started speaking German on the other line, and hands me the phone, at this point I was very confused. I get on the line and say Guten Tag, and who is on the telephone, the one and only Lamps 1E.
I tried to see if he could join me at the lounge, but the agent said "IS NOT POSSIBLE" because we were not on same flight, so I walked across immigration to Tower lounge and we had Thanksgiving Champagne ^
