I believe their rationale is that (1) flights after morning were nearly empty and, to a lesser extent (2) hard and/or expensive to find crews at that point. So their spreadsheet guys decided it was cheaper just to park the planes for the rest of the day.

Happy Thanksgiving from the IAH Terminal E P-Club! Yes, I had to reroute my SEA-NRT run at the last minute from SEA-EWR-NRT to SEA-IAH-NRT because I missed my JFK-SEA nonstop on AA and was rebooked JFK-ORD-SEA, with international J on the 757 JFK-ORD and a fairly empty F cabin, and a delicious cheeseburger, on ORD-SEA. Thanfully, a CO supe in ORD managed to regain my upgrade seat on IAH-NRT, but strangely enough, all the seats in BF were locked down for assignment by the concierge even though there are like 30 empty seats...

Yes that was a cool lounge. He didn't get to see it like we did a few weeks ago. I think many hhave heard this story but as I was leaving the lounge I was talking to Jennifer from LH and found out that we went to the same junior high and highschool as she was a year behind me. That was just crazy!!

That last sentance of yours explains the whole thing. I :rolleyes: when the markets go up based on what I call wrong news. The dollar dropping in value isn't a good thing but since it causes oil prices to jump everyone thinks that's good for the oil companies (they are just trying to keep even on the global market) so if oil companies can get more than everything else must be rosey.
