Just some parts of it can be rough (i.e. IAD GAs, ops falling apart at ORD, the ICC).

And if you are a UA 1K, you can manage around some of those issues:

1) Don't live near IAD. A good rule to live by in general. :D
2) ORD isn't so bad if it's your home airport. It's only when you're connecting that things usually go pear-shaped.
3) Pretty sure 1P and 1K don't have to talk to India.

Good tip. Thanks. :-::-:

I might seek your advice when we get closer.

Im MLE elite, I even gave you a map which you lost
if you are looking for alternatives let me know.
Four Seasons has a boat which you can stay on for 3 days, and the Club Med Kani is pretty cool if you want all inclusive, I spent a night there and the entire next day until my SQ flight during my MLE-SIN-SYD-SIN-MLE-SIN-EWR trip one year.

Being 1K definitely has its advantages. I haven't noticed IAD GAs to be significantly better or worse than other places. However, the encounters I have had have been very positive as soon as they realize they are dealing with a 1K. Their voice and mannerisms change immediately and become very helpful.

Most of that advice should go in the Wiki!:D^ You are correct. Never was 1K, but was Prem Ex for a while, and generally avoided the ICC, but would get it every once in a while, and when I did, it was

As a Prem Ex, I generally found them to be a little on the brusk and/or rude side, but then again, I was never UA royalty;). I think all top tiers get the best treatment (which is ok by me). I noticed that old NW GAs and certainly AA GAs, seemed to bend over backwards when they saw I was PE or EXP, as applicable.

At teh SEA RCC. My Horizon Air flight to YVR got cancelled, so I had them rebook me on Aero Canuck Jazz. God help me if I get to YVR and KLM's system rejects my booking because of something to do with the rebooking/YX Handling of my award ticket. Do not want an "is not possible" for my first MD-11 flight.

Today's lecture - why the firm's architecture (centralization, org model, and culture) are economic concepts rather than management ones.

 probably true, and hilarious :D

Actually, if the one belynch dealt with was one of my former victims, that means she's now an ex-RTW desk agent. I hope I didn't cause any mental breakdowns over there. :-:

With some airlines, "Is Possible" to have ARUNK (arrival unknown) or such added to the PNR during IRROPS. I'm sure our friend sfogate can give all the low-down.

"Firm" meaning "corporate america" or "professional america" (i.e. accountants, lawyers, etc.)? Reason I ask is that I don't think that a law firm has any good sense of economics IMHO.

Ah, makes sense. Nothing stopping an RTW-qualified rep from doing more manageable bookings.

In economic terms a firm is organized to reduce transaction costs and/or deliver economies of scale / economies of scope and/or manage agency costs.

Even if a law firm is designed primarily to enrich the owners / partners, they have capitalized on economies of scale (clerks and junior partners) and reduced agency costs (owners are managers).

Gotcha, won't disagree. More that the management of the modern law firm seems chaotic to me in a way that the "traditional corporation" is not. Good stuff nonetheless.:-:
