Finding a decent rate for a hotel on NYE in Barcelona is turning out to be a fun project. I want to stick with SPG, so that really limits my options. An average of 198EUR/night over 3 nights isn't really all that bad, right? I think it's just the exchange rate that is getting to me...

I also need to keep reminding myself that we only paid $230/person for the airfare...

It's still pretty pricey once you convert to USD, especially since you thought this would be a cheap trip. Im taking the wife to MAD that weekend and I guess we lucked out as we got in the Hilton prepaid rate when I booked the tickets for 79EUR and the exchange rate was ~1.35.

Yep. I didn't understand the marketing gimmick part. I love that episode of the Simpsons.

I booked the Plat run... Now I only hope that snow doesn't ruin it for me.

My connection in DEN is an hour; Thank God the F9 and CO gates are close.

Nice - sounds like you guys got a deal! ^

From the start, I was OK with spending a bit more on the hotel since the airfare was so cheap, but this is a little more than I was expecting. The upside is that the hotel is right on La Rambla, so it's at least in the middle of all the action. I don't see the EUR (or these rates) getting any better, so I think I am just going to grab it.

I hate the EUR.

I've got 40 minutes to do UA mainline to UAEx after Turkey Day in DEN, and I am seriously wondering if we'll make it. I'm glad there are other options that day to get back to AUS. Last time I had to traverse DEN, I arrived at B12 and departed from B78.

I probably wouldn't do this run if I was in the B gates... 40 minutes from UEx to mainline is really cutting it close.

Yep, I'm going to ask the UA GA at PHX to protect us on the later DEN - ORD - AUS route. They should do that without fees or issues right? I seem to remember hearing that sort of thing about UA from other folks. I suppose the alternative is to call and have the segments changed over now to secure a better chance of success.

Yeah, it's not terrible commute. It's about 20 minutes by taxi (IIRC, about 25 EUR) or you can take the metro with a transfer or two depending on where you are going in the city.

MAD is a fantastic city but make sure you also play a day outside of the city in Seville or Toledo.

Nein. Takeoff. I don't think a guest was in the cockpit for the buzz and landing.

Good morning and afternoon, Box.

Victory is mine. Star Alliance polo secured. ^^

We toured an empty 346 that had not been serviced after coming in from DEN, and some downtime spent in the F cabin permitted me to reimburse rolov his pair of F slippers.

Yeah, it was just a punishing workday combined with the time change.

My Miss Universe buddy called me last night and said that Egypt Air could not enter his Onepass number in their system and told him to use his United number instead. By the time he called he was already on the plane and couldnt change it back to not having a number at all. Is there any chance to fight with CO on this since Egypt Air's systems have not been updated? This trip would have made him Silver on CO and last year he missed silver by 400 miles.
