Changing terminals in SFO instead of PHX is the way to go. At least at SFO it's a quick walk, PHX is a long bus ride.

Definitely. The simplicity of MSP-CLT-ORD-SEA-GEG-SFO-CLT-MSP this past weekend turned out to be quite nice. Although, it did include a ton of time on US.
