I've done both Ws in New Orleans. I prefer the one on Poydras to the French Quarter.

I doped up at 1:30am without a lot of hope of getting sleep, and slept well through the night, been up and about a bit now but doing much better here!

The only take-away of a phone call just now: tracking tweets of the lunch trucks in midtown. link

I slept well too (and without sleep aids) - no heat, turned on the fan, and curled up in a nest of comforters.

Take the Suite at the W. She will enjoy it far more than a deluxe river view at the Westin.

Agreed. The suites at the W are great, even though the view usually sucks. The room more than makes up for it.

Both hotels have borderline incompetent front-desk staff, so there's no edge there.

My experience is that's the case with all hotels in New Orleans. Same applies to many airline workers, as well as rental car company employees. There's a much lower standard there than in other places. I've also found housekeeping at most hotels in Southern Louisiana isn't as good as it generally is at similar hotels in other parts of the country. I've learned to just accept the fact that in that part of the country, expect everything to be slow and delivered with a "who cares" attitude.

I doubt you will have elevator issues during most of your stay. Usually all the action is at Whiskey Blue, far from the elevators. Rarely does the bar near the lobby spill over to actually block elevator access.

Agreed. I've found it to usually be a straight shot across the lobby to the elevators with no crowding issues, even on busy nights.

I know where all those President Coins are going. I got two of them as change yesterday from McDonald's, in East Palo Alto, CA.

I did not take sleep aids, just 3 pain killers :D

I had to get rid of pain to relax.

I don't think I've ever received a dollar coin as change. I've spent plenty (and am back to $5K+ on my living room floor).

I have two degenerative discs in my neck - add the previous job to the mix and I used to not sleep (e.g. "at all") without sleep aids.

I got them somewhere, I posted here that I found out where the coins were going. I am trying to remember who gave to me as change now.....I wasn't too happy :)

Wouldn't bother me any - I always need some loose coins for the places that don't accept credit cards.
