I'd go with the Schwab Visa and have the rewards put into whatever type of account you want. I didn't read the Fidelity details but with the Schwab card you can use it overseas without any foreign transaction fees.

Is the Schwab card an actual cc or is it just linked off your brokerage acct?

Real CC. Having it linked gets you 2% back, on top of the 0%FX fees. But without the linked account you can still just have the CC.

Cool. I'll have to look into it at some point.

Just finally got that Schwab card with the brokerage. Have to set up the account still but I figure it will be my primary international card.

Where do you fly out from to return? That might skew things.

You've already got a glacier hike on your itinerary but there's no way it is a full day hike. You've also got Doubtful Sound - supposedly the nicer of the options down there - and Wanaka covered. The thing I'd say is that your itinerary is going to be too rushed. I think that the Glacier is worth the full day (assuming you're fit enough) as the shorter hikes don't get up as high.

I'd maybe head farther south for a couple days to Dunedin or Invercargill. It'll be something that you haven't already seen.

Have you found their Parks Department hiking webpage? It has all sorts of great info on where there are marked trails, etc.

I need to write them this week so they will reevaluate my account. My mortgage company thought I declared bankruptcy and passed that on to the credit bureaux. That got me denied. My mortgage company has cleared it up but it is going to take a while to fix, I'm afraid.

From my understanding they will either open an account for you to deposit your 2% cash back each month if you dont already have one or they will let the points/cash accumulate until you designate an account to put it in.

They will not put it in you Fidelity IRA but they will put it in a Schwab IRA ;)

Are there any specific benefits in me moving from Fidelity to Schwab? I am not a terribly active trader and don't have a huge balance.

Texans managed to come back from 21 down to tie the game. And then lose 28-21.

Probably not. I'd check to make sure that the trading fees are the same but also keep in mind that most brokers have no transaction fee funds so you don't have to pay the $15-$50 for the trade (and you have to hold the fund for at least 90 days to avoid short term redeption fees) but they get you in a higher expenses. Ive done the math and actually use the NTF funds when buying anything under $3,500 and don't expect to hold it more than 2 years. This is about the break even point on MOST funds but I recommend you do the math yourself when looking at the funds because some NTF's have significantly higher fees and it might make sense just to pay the transaction. I'm also assuming you don't have access to institutional share classes where the expenses tend to be really low compared to the retail shares.

Walk away for an hour or two. Your HD will no longer have compressed files on it.

Thank you. It will be interesting to see the available space difference when it's uncompressed if there is much of a differnce.
