Oh I'm about to give up on engineering. Any other job I can get and get 6 figure and a lot of time off and strict 8 hour max days. I have lots of leadership skills. No?

What's up Box?

I have got to find some better shoes for occassions where we're going to be walking a lot on concrete, but I want to wear something nicer than sneakers. My feet are killing me right now after spending the evening walking around an outdoor art festival in a neighborhood near downtown.

baglady, sorry to hear about the allergy. That does blow. My father had a similar allergy he developed as an adult. Amazingly after a few years it seemed to go away and as long as he doesn't overdo it, he's fine with shrimp, oysters, and crab again. But there was a period of 5-10 years that just one bite of shellfish would make him a little dizzy, and eating 2-3 shrimp would cause him to pass out cold.

Food allergies are no fun, and can be quite serious. And it always seems like they develop for things we like. There are certain foods that I'd be thrilled to have an allergy to, since I don't care for them at all. But generally the things I have to be careful with are things I really like.

Thanks. A couple of years ago I developed a nut allergy. I'd been allergic to walnuts all my life but then bam it was all nuts. It makes the warm nut/cocktail course a bit :( but I learned my lesson a few months ago after having 2 cashews thinking I'd be okay (hint: don't try it at 35K miles). I just stare longingly at pecan pie now. The good news: it wasn't an alcohol allergy^ I'll be fine!

Have you had a comprehensive allergy test? (Ouch!)

I have been allergic to cashews, walnuts, and shellfish my whole life. The test told me some things I didn't know I was allergic to (mold) and some that I thought I was allergic to but am not (brazil nuts.) What are brazil nuts?
