Weird thing last night on CO 100 (EWR-MAN), just after takeoff the lead service manager comes to my seat in Y and Hands me a BF amenity kit, saying he wanted to give me it and if I need anything at all then to call upon him. I was on a cheapo S fare so it was very weird for him to single me out, the local Boy Scout Troop will once again enjoy the kit for when they go camping. The kids and troop leaders love them.

For those interested the flight had very few seats in Y open, the only oddity was 3 guys got upgraded to BF and were the last to board, they were not showing on the standby UG list 30 minutes before. It made me wonder the entire flight if there were GA shenanigans but I really do not think so after checking once I landed.

Great spot - we really enjoyed it there over Labor Day. Any plans to see the other parts of the island?

I just booked ATL-LAX on UA, with an itinerary that hits four UA hubs on the way out. The entire thing nets about 12,000 EQMs. And it was less than $400. Gotta love UA's routing rules.

I know that this is heresy on this thread but when you travel as much on business as you and I do, I am surprised that you are not looking for the shortest rather than the longest way to get somewhere. You're going to qualify for top tier no matter what you do, so why do mileage run type trips? And especially on UA, where the service is so inconsistent and at times so completely inconsiderate that flying them is always a crapshoot.

And did you get upgraded for all those legs? Don't anybody tell me about E+ which is simply the coach pig with a bit of lipstick.

I think he's going for 1K this year due to DEQM. He had UA elite status but not enough UA flying to hit 1K.

Oh yes, the DEQM. I am quite pleased that DL will not do that. They do just give away Silver and Gold Medallion status to credit carders and shoppers but the Platinum actually requires flying and the new Diamond level will eliminate all but business travelers and a few extreme mileage running nutcases.

There is quite a bit of bitterness toward DL from the cheap fare crowd over there which feel as if they have been snubbed (and they have been).

I'm headed up to the Hyatt for lunch and then to the low-rise area to begin my timeshare abuses. Bought a point sampler pack with the knowledge I could get 17 days (20 counting the sales presentation) of 1 bedroom spaces for $900. Staying in the Smoky Mountains next week, then Missouri woods the week after (or vice versa).

Although I strongly resemble that remark, I'm stopping at ~ 110,000 / 115,000 miles this year such that I can begin next year as "almost gold". The biggest reason this trip was a 60,000 mile award rather than paid.
