The are calling ALCO for advise on ticketing and taxes :D

Just like every other Asia reward I have booked on CO, this probably is the beginning of a multi-day/week saga. Nonetheless, I actually got both outbound and return dates that I wanted and KE on the TPAC in one direction. The outbound flights will have to be tweaked multiple times, though. Asia rewards should become easier with the addition of UA, OS, and NH when CO migrates to *A, I hope.

You broke CO? :)

So someone is calling Scott to have him ticket your reservation? :D

This looks like a good deal over in CC. For those SPG whores that rake in BMI.

Your frustrations is why I do not want to bother with Asia until *A. Not only is it bad that we can't do it ourselves online but you do not get much further on the phone. Plus, I will say it again, it is stupid to block us from going through Europe.

Vent:

I had to deal with a friend from India today and he ranted that Delta was amazing and that Continental was the crappy one in their agreement and that Delta was better off without them.

I was driving and almost made him get out.

Delta? Seriously? And he had the nerve to say he even liked US better then CO.

It really isn't that bad. My last itinerary was no trouble to get - I just had to call back several times to make little tweaks to the flights and routings when more preferable availability opened up. The problem with the 120k rewards to Asia using KE beyond ICN is that the agents often cannot figure out how to ticket the reservation, and most of them do not even realize that you cannot use CO on the TPAC segments if continuing onward on KE from ICN. On the itinerary I to book today, availability was only an issue on one domestic segment. After the agent found an alternative to that involving a forced overnight which I can change later, they just could not figure out how to get it to price without involving this special "expert" reward agent. The same thing happened last time I booked an Asia reward - availability was not at issue at all, but it took five or six phone calls for them to finally figure out how to ticket it.

Also, I am not so sure how much easier the migration to *A will make Asia reward redemptions. There might be more reward availability, but if the agents cannot figure out how to ticket reservations under the current system, I do not think that simply moving to *A will cure the inability to make the system price and ticket itineraries.

That's almost completely inexplicable.

Here I am, for once ready to go at the appointed time...and the fiancee shuttle is late. On top of that I'm starving and we probably won't get to her house until 8:00 at this rate.

The "in" thing amongst my friends with children is to do as you are doing and have a Spanish-speaking nanny speak Spanish to their children. It is a great idea, IMO.

John Paul Stevens is now (apparently) the Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, if you are to believe some news sources ...

CO 1E May 7, 2009 3:55 pm

I am looking at the rebuilt reservation that they put on hold for me, and it is not going to work because they somehow built it with two open jaws.

OPFlyer May 7, 2009 3:55 pm

HAH! I don't believe that for a second.
