Thanks. The Travel Institute (formerly known as ICTA - Institute of Certified Travel Agents) gives specialist certifications (Destination Specialist/Lifestyle Specialist), basic travel agent proficiency, and more senior certifications like the CTC (Certified Travel Consultant) and CTIE (Certified Travel Industry Executive). My mother is a CTC and has two DS's, in North America and the Caribbean. A CTC is essentially a Travel/Tourism Bachelor's, but it's not college-structured. It's more industry experience and some bookwork along with experiential checklist type stuff. You don't necessarily need to be employed by an agency to take the classes, but it's definitely an industry niche thing.

Nice! If I was in the business full-time, you and Mr. BL would be great clients to have. I wish I could do the same as you, but my girl isn't a golfer. A compromise has been offered and not yet accepted: my greens fees in total have the right to be matched by her in the spa. We'll see.
I've been trying to write trips on my own by researching resorts and courses. Some of the ideas are inspired by T&L Golf, while others are completely original thought. The LS course teaches the idea of bringing on a non-golf diversion, so I was thinking about SEA: play Chambers Bay and do Seattle and the Boeing plant. I've got a few more in various stages of development, including a partial visit to the RTJ Trail. |
He's happy if he gets a round in; happier yet to get in more. We'll do some strictly golf trips but I have no desire to play every day and since I broke my ankle my golfing is limited; however I'm all for him playing. The whole BKK thing is interesting because you HAVE to have a caddy; it's a female; you still have a cart - different than other places.
He's played one of the Euro Disney courses in April - he said it needed to be maintained a bit better. I used it as my time to sleep. I like your girlfriend's idea of equal spa time to golf time. We're staying at the Savannah Westin Golf resort later this month and he has tee times when I have spa times - it's perfect! Do you get Golf Punk magazine? If not, get a subscription - it will broaden your gold perspective. |
Never heard of Golf Punk...I'll look into it.

It does have some interesting golf travel tips in it so it could be of interest to you. Find a newstand specializing in foreign mags and you should be able to leaf through it or pick one up. |

Is "The Mom" a flyer talker? BTW, I was in AC this weekend and it was nasty muggy and hot. It reminded me of Houston. However, I did learn that there is no sales tax for clothing there. I picked up a pair of Ferragamo's and saved about $40 in tax:cool:
Cheers PS SHopping in AC is now amazing. For the ladies they have just opened a St. John's outlet. Great stuff |

Mom is a fauxtalker. She has signed on at flyertalk but I don't think she has posted yet. If you were at the Sept. "DO' in IAH she was with me as my guest. Baglady, you met her when we were all sitting having drinks on Friday night at the DuobleTree. Congrats ConciergeMike on your new cert. and your new job.

Very cool. Congrats. We try and center all our vacations around golf. Not that they have to be at a golf resort - just that golf must be attainable in some way. MR BL found a course near the BKK airport and managed to get in 18 before his flight out (and I think it was an 11 a.m. flight!).

Thanks! There were so many nice people that I met there and there wasn't enough time to talk them all. I do remember your tales of EVA Air.
sbm12: I forgot to tell you that we have the lovely cruisr as a mutual friend. She's known me since I was about 10, thru my mother. And yes, Mom is a fauxtalker. The one post she has "made" was me being dictated to. |

At the old BKK there was a course that had a bunch of holes between the parallel runways.
