So far I have seen a cx 77w, aa a300, and a jl 744 take off along with numerous narrow bodies.

But on a little different topic.

I love this ESPN tournament app, it was so simple to do it made me join to save it, but before saving it I could have prented it off for an office bracket, sent to a friend etc. And it was so easy to do. big ^^ to ESPN on this bracket means this year. I don't normally do this. The score updates as games happen is another big plus. I haven't watched one game and probably won't till the final 4, but I like following them a bit on the scoring updates.

What is Amtrak 'general boarding'?

I was boarding out of the lounges and.....it was conductor coming in and go through these little doors, walk 1/4 a mile in between some tracks with a little concrete, finally get to the sleeper cars and walk on after stepping over a huge gap. Reminds me of the shuttle bus boarding at IAH term C with no ramp down.

If general is this organized I'd imagine its an outright stampede to board.

Clearly, you have never boarded an Amtrak Northeast Corridor train using the general boarding line. ;) At Washington Union Station, there are doors that lead to the tracks (called gates, just like at an airport) where people begin lining up about 30 minutes before departure. The lines snake around to other gates, and the process makes elite gate licing on CO look like child's play. Boarding at New York Penn is even worse - everyone clusters around escalators to head down to the tracks, then stampedes and cuts the line to be first onboard.

I surprisingly had no issues with the 4 hour time zone change coming back from the UK outside of waking up an hour early a couple of times. Not having to worry about going back to work and the pile of e-mails to sort through and knowing someone at work will won't instantly kill the vacation high may have had something to do with that.

Allow me to be the first to declare that dl's jfk "hub" is a hole, roughly on par with some Russian airports I have been in.

/QUOTE]You should see the dump UA is in at JFK. AA's new home is nice but then again I had my hand in on that project, ok the approach roadway bridges and not the terminal it's self but I had a giant steel box girder sticking into the old termnal building for awhile.

Yes, if you sit in the right area in the lounge, there are decent views. I saw the EK 380 arrive last time I was there.

I cheat on occasion at NYP and take the mid level stairs when they announce the Amtrak platform. There are several sets of stair cases that go to each platform. WAS is the worst for boarding and then everyone tries to pile into the first car they come too.

Hasn't that been replaced with a 77w?

I have been to Union Station in DC(amazing place really) but ClubAcela I think I boarded differently from here, and I know I did in Chicago at the lounge there.
Sometimes it is good to not experience the boarding horde :D

Hasn't that been replaced with a 77w?

They just announced that this week. Prior to that, it had been 1x daily 77W (morning flight) and 1x daily 380 (evening flight).

It looks like one of the wheel chaucks (sp?) is jammed and they have to pull the plane forward to get it out.

Club Acela boarding in DC is a world of difference. They do not officially preboard from the lounge for anything except Acela anymore, but you can still exit the lounge and jump the line for Regional trains. Often, the workers near the "gates" will question why you are jumping the line, but if you tell them you are coming from the Club Acela, they let you go ahead without issue.

The other official way to preboard on Amtrak is to have a porter carry you bag onboard.

Speaking of which, I have an Acela First trip coming up next week. I love Acela First.

Not sure I know where those stairs are.
