I felt like I was doing a MR Thursday night. Hopped on the 6:35pm flt to IAH, checked into the Marriott IAH for 4 hours of sleep, got on the first flight to CLT and arrived at the hospital bedside of my dad by 11am Friday.
The nurse said that my dad was doing better, although I thought he looked horrible. Of course wearing an oxygen mask doesn't help and the fact that he doesn't speak anymore made our visit difficult. He was aware that we were there and in fact did managed to say something to my daughter. We returned later that afternoon to say goodbye and he waved to us. This morning my sister emailed and said that Dad was getting better. The breathing mask had been removed and the doctor was pleased with his progress and even spoke about when he might be discharged. One of his problems was with his heart beat/rhythm, that they were controlling with meds. Well today his heart just basically gave out. Since he had a DNR order, he died peacefully and quietly. His wishes are to have his ashes scattered in Hawaii, which we will do in the summer. Thank you for all of your kind thoughts. I am so very sorry to hear abour your loss, sfogate. I am sure that your father was so happy that you managed to get there to see him, and this gave him peace as he passed away. The important thing now is for you to allow yourself to grieve in a way that is appropriate to you, and to remember to celebrate the memory of your father. My thoughts are with you. |
Great meeting everyone last night at Big Eds. Ribs were mighty g:D:Dd, even if I am a complete wimp in only managing one plate of baby back. Seems I won't be qualifying for The Box Olympic Rib-Eating team. Others were much more skilled than I!!!
But, practice makes perfect, right?! Just need more practice. It was great to put a face to the names I meet here in the box. I'm looking forward to meeting others in the future. Thanks xyzzy for arranging it, and for being so gracious and kind to me on my inaugural Box meet!! |

Yeep. Offered UFC today for UA863 (SFO-SYD, which I'm currently sitting on) for $999. Yeep, you read that right: $:rolleyes::rolleyes:
I splurged and got a tempurpedic pillow. Which seems to lack the critical ability to work, mind you. So yeah, the back will hurt in addition to the credit card statement. That's .Edward! Goodnight box, see y'all in SYD.

Bummer. That's gotta be good for sky kit though, right? ;)
ON another note, I was sleeping pleasantly this morning only to be woken up by the neighbors dog sttacking a racoon outside my window, and I mean right outside my window! UGH! |

IAH bound via EWR from RDU at 2:29(though my check-in notice said my 3:29 flight, guess DST hit CO's computers early or something)
Couple hours to kill at EWR, if anyone's around #1 on the list and showing 19/9/2-so may get in the pointy end after all |

Actually, it's today that doesn't exist. Does that mean I'm not really typing this? And you aren't really reading it?
(The 9th he goes to SFO & HNL.) I did not adjust for daylight savings :D |
