We didn't use the co.com specials, but did just book CLE-IAH-CUN for the Tuesday following the DO. :)

Look for news soon on a couple of mbm3 ventures in the legal technology, web and travel industries.

Sorry to hear about this. Hopefully something good will come of it, and launch you into bigger and better things!

I'm sure she had choice words. We get an email newsletter circulated around the office here each week with the goings on in the Texas legal community. Lots of the big firms have been announcing layoffs lately. Until recently, Texas had been bucking the national trend due to the commodities bubble. Dunno what field of legal support/technology services you specialize in, but I hear divorce and criminal law are booming at the moment. Unfortunately, I suspect those are fields that are least likely to engage in ediscovery or other IT-based legal support services.

Best wishes in tracking down something new and better, involving peers who don't display enormous levels of suck.

We didn't book the $200 flights - because they had 6+ hour cx at IAH, and the times were bad, but the ones we did book were only about $240, so I don't think that's too bad. It was slightly more for a direct return (CUN-CLE), so we opted for more miles by going back through IAH on the flight home as well.

A pretty interesting thread in the SPG forum involving the Whatever/Whenever service at the W hotel

I just sent off my status match request to bmi.

Time to start thinking about flying UA...

The Virgin Clubhouse wasn’t too shabby. They piped in hip/popular music and had a good menu to order from. Knowing that I had a feast aboard my SQ flight, I opted for a shrimp skewer plate that came with an Asian-type salad. It really hit the spot. Then I started surfing the web. While reading FT, I saw that Rolov was posting on the SIN DO thread, wishing us the best, as he was on his way to a mini BRU Do and was in the VS Lounge at the moment. Hey, that’s where I was! I PM’d Rolov saying that I was in the lounge as well, and gave him my description and invited him to find me if he was so inclined. A few minutes later, he approached me and we had a nice chat. If I could only meet girls that easily :)

Rolov and I parted ways, and it was time to clear security and board my flight! When I got to the security lane, it was packed with travelers and friends/family sending them off. I had to fight the crowd to the Clear Lane, and was immediately told to go to the other line before seeing my Clear card. “Oh! Follow me sir”. I guess they don’t get many Clear members.

My partner and I were reading that one last night and got a lot of laughs out of it.

It's funny when it happens to someone else, but to have the Whatever/Whenever agent deny something like that is totally  and would have gotten someone in my old line of work severely yelled at. Before I worked a concierge desk, I did have one Mr. Illen Averson ask me to send a bellman to his room to deliver some lube. For the record, he has been banned from the ACY casinos. The incident that put it over the top at Bally's was his family/entourage's desecration of a suite such that it needed to be off the market for five days. At Borgata, he seemed content to whip out the trouser snake and take a leak in a potted plant.

I wouldn't call it healthy but it tasted great. I just grabbed a bunch of leftovers and threw them into a frying pan to heat them up. My breakfast/lunch/dinner was a combo of mac and cheese, rice and spam. I know everyone says yuck to spam but I grew up in Hawaii, where it's the local dish.

I got to meet Larry Kellner tonight. He was flying the red eye to IAH and stopped to chit chat before boarding for quite awhile. Unfortunately I was the boarding agent so I didn't have the chance to talk to him.

I'm guessing you did not get a chance to mention the DO.

Here is the list again. Please make sure I have not left you off because I may have missed a post or two.

I think we are going to have to cap it here because the only other place we are going to be able to reserve enough space is Cadillac Bar or Gravitas and the latter requires that I pay and set the menu (which I'd rather not do).

I'm wondering how he gets any sleep on the redeye. He is too tall even for the F seats.
