That's why I'm going for a flight back, especially if I cross seven airports and have a random overnight in a different country. :-:

A fine idea. :-:

It's a chain, but it's not bad. A lot better than Bill Miller's, IMHO. If you order brisket, order it "moist with a lot of crisp, outside edges". Most places call this simply "burnt ends", but that seems to be a lost concept at Rudy's. The guy taking my order knew what I wanted though and it was successfully relayed to the carvers.

The brisket was very good. I have had better baby backs and turkey elsewhere, but the brisket can hold its own with any place I've been the last six months. And, that includes five places in Kansas City, four in Lockhart, one in Lexington, one in Taylor, and one in Driftwood.

Yup, it is operated by ASKY. But ASKY doesn't have online booking. I think I'll need a real travel agent to book this one. It'll have to wait until I'm back on Tuesday. I'm also a bit put off by the $131 visa that I'd need if I choose to depart the airport at midnight when I arrive in Togo. The more I think about that the more I really need to reconsider how I'll be packing for this trip.

I wouldn't count on being able to overnight in the Airport without having to clear customs/immigration. At a small West African airport like that, they may just close up the terminal in the evening.

Bill Miller's is to BBQ as US is to a quality airline.

Personally, I'm not certain that flying in West Africa is much safer than driving there. Websites like Slok Air's remind me more of a Nigerian Scammer email greeting than an airline website.

Well, it's relative. I'd rank it like this:

hire a car and driver > flying > renting a car and driving yourself.

And I'm not 100% sure about the first one in the grand scheme of things, too. :-:

I don't care for baby back, but I do love brisket. Hmm... why not have BBQ for dinner tonight? @:-) The closest BBQ to me is in downtown Houston at the Pappas, which is okay. I need to do the tour de Hartmann of Hill Country. Sounds like he has hit the great BBQ joints.

Indeed, that is a consideration as well.

ASKY has two 737s that are only ~3 years old. I'm not terribly worried on that front. Oh, and there is NO WAY that I'd be driving myself. Among other problems I cannot imagine trying to drive myself across the borders.

Getting a nice big downpour here. Perfect day to take a nap. I am envious of my daughter who is napping.

While on conference calls this morning I was surfing the net looking for light fixtures, bathroom fixtures, doorknobs, medicine cabinets, and all those insanely frustrating things I now need to acquire as we are in the finishing phase of the construction of Lake Brit.

I....do....not....like....having to choose all this cr*p. Please, someone, put me out of my misery and do it for me...

Did you get the tile yet? Who knew how much that crap cost? May have to take out a second loan for it.
