Just killing time until I need to leave, I checked to see if Nacona boots were available retail in Manhattan. Yes (what isn't, after all?): at 19, at 37, and at 47 W 8th.

Hola, Box. Another wedding, another EMS call. Two nights in a row that there has a been a fall with a head impact. Last night was a guest; tonight staff. Just another night at the follies.

Deciding on whether to go and do a Hyatt Place stay tonight to pair up with Tuesday's stay in SF.

Also on the Hyatt side, Amtrak has leaked a 1,000 bonus AGR promotion per night starting July 1 (with longer work-related stays, this is lucrative) and UA had a new promotion with no detail on the MP website last week.

icurhere2 - congrats on completing the 50! Which are your favorites?

Where would you use the BWB award? I thought you covered HI already and you definitely don't need the stay credit.

In general, I don't see much worth visiting in the southeast (personal preference). |

We definitely could parlay a sub-$100 stay tonight into a one that would otherwise be a more expensive one before the end of the promo (since I am not out of pocket for Tuesday's stay). The problem is the traffic situation between here and the HP is pretty grim (it could be close to a 2 hour drive), so it is looking pretty unlikely now.

I did not mind NJ Transit, though I am uniquely unqualified to offer an opinion. It was nicer than the Los Angeles subway system, and the double decker new train cars were as nice as those I used in San Diego.

The new double deck trains are much nicer. Getting on one of the old single level trains when it's packed at the EWR station, and you've got luggage to deal with on a standing room only train, makes you realize that NJ Transit can often be about as pleasant as a train in a developing country.

I've always felt that Newark had no right naming itself something oh-so-similar to New York...never mind then ALSO having a Penn Station.

Baltimore has a Penn Station as well, and I'm sure other cities do too. Of course it refers to the rail line's origin as part of the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Do you guys count a state if you merely transit via airport? I guess technically you are *there* but you really haven't seen any of the area.... Of course, if you collect airport visits, that's an entirely different thing!

I'm not looking forward to getting up for the return flight home tomorrow morning ... At least there seems to be some VDB potential developing on the second flight.
|
I am about to check HI off my list next sunday.
