In other news, I discovered a Five Guys down the street from my office. I shall make it a point to hit that up next week.

msv, sorry to hear about the job. Glad to see you are looking at the bright side of this - lots o' travel! 35.5 years is a long time w/ one company. It's usually best to go out on your own terms, but it sounds like the terms you're getting are not too bad. More time for FT, right? ;)

They're pretty great, but the word is to eat in and not take out. The fries will steam in the bag and turn soggy. :-:

Probably should strive for some evanglist status before the UA/CO agreement puts any threads in jeopardy:rolleyes:

Black Friday for me:rolleyes:. Although I knew the dreaded pink slip was preprinted for me for sometime the email summoning me to HR this morning was tough indeed. After 35.5 yrs at the same place it isn't something you really can prepare for. I'm status quo until Sep 24th and do have a very long severance period with full pay and benefits so I'm looking at a lot of travel coming up really soon:D Then I will decide what I want to be when I grow up:rolleyes:
Sounds like the severance arrangement is good though. And, of course, 35.5 years at anything in the tech field qualifies you for the "Yoda Effect." Smart managers realize that certain special projects are better handled by outside "old pros." But probably not 'til you start making a bigger dent in the AA 1MM goal. ;) |

You should go out Fight Club or Office Space style. |

I've been to weddings that had the toast to those that have passed. It wasn't dwelled apon but brought up as they were important people in one of their lives. Seemed appropriate to me. Just make sure to bring it back up and about the happy couple after that. Time wise? maybe 2 minutes (+ quiet moment)

I am so sorry. Prepped or not, whenever tomorrow won't look like today, there's dissonance to it. :(

I actually have a really odd problem because my excellent insurance keeps my son on my policy for a tiny contribution (now for years if need be) unless I accept a job with insurance! I'm kind of stuck working part-time or negotiating some kind of deal for extra pay in-leu of medical insurance. I also get a significant payout for unused vaction time which I get in a lump sum (bet you guys know how that gets allocated:D)

Good afternoon, Box.

I'm wondering if that last note makes it a smart move or not to mention in one of the slides that the school I am looking to get admitted to has admitted two Saudi women for a Fall '10 start...apparently that involved some serious diplomatic  between the school and the Saudi consulate. Highlighting progressive thinking is a positive for me here, no?

Hmmm. AC INP, JJ INP from JFK, but is from MIA (Tropical Invest 94L might make that unwise), and UA is running 777s out of IAD/ORD. Decisions, decisions.
