Do you hunt anteater, alpaca, or three-toed sloth down there? I hear the sloths are easiest to catch.

I assume you are joking, but birds. This is his favorite place (I went with him in 2006)

Guessing I don't see 3 days, is it, as extended
None that I've ever ordered has come in a cooler and it's usually >3 days transit time

maybe rent a refrigerated truck

We're doing the drive in 4 days with one of those days being a stopover in New Orleans. I'm mostly worried about the times where the wine will be in the car overnight and during the day while in New Orleans.

I need to find this bar. Alcohol + Tapirs = Brilliant Idea.

UGH!! just off the phone with my movers. Explained that I want some return on the 1300 that I had to overspend to get my stuff here or I was filling a BBB complaint againest them. Told them they held merchandise for randsom. They said no. I said Iwas told on Thursday that the cost was going to be X and then on Monday after my stuff was packed up and in truck and half way here that the estimate was X dollars more. Hmm, how is that now randsom? You have my stuff and I have no way of changing the way I move at that point!!

I'm guessing they gave you a weight-based estimate instead of a binding estimate? If so, there isn't a whole lot you can do. The contracts I saw for weight-based estimates state that they will not release the shipment until at least 10% of the extra cost is paid (I believe you have 30 days to pay the entire balance).

I've tried to trim down the collection as much as I could, but I think it's still going to come down to moving about 40 of the bottles.

I have styrofoam cartons/boxes made for wine bottles, but only enough to hold about 25 bottles. I'd feel comfortable shipping in those because if you chill them before packing they are often still cool when they arrive (assuming overnight or 2-day shipping). I may just have to go with a cooler for the rest of the bottles.

I have two boxes that would hold 18 bottles total. Hmmm... your moving before the Footie Do right?

Yes, the movers are coming on 6/3. I'm going to stop at my local wine store and see what they can give me.

Not weight based. Volume based. I told them the sq. ft. of storage unit and my approximate thoughts on the numbr f boxes and they gave qoute from there. Heard nothing until stuff in truck and on its way!! UGH!!

I remember seeing a Dateline or 60 minutes type program about this. Apparently it is an exceedingly common scam.
