Seems a bit crazy that for what this 20K EQM-yielding run would cost, I could probably pay for barely two of the "real trips" I have to take this summer - all those <500 mile hops on US RJs to very small airports in the Southeast. Something just seems wrong with this picture. :p

The big problem for me is that I have potential trips both to BSB and BKK planned in theory, but not nailed down, for 2010. BSB to visit tjtenor4's college roommate who is working there (this would be in the summer) and BKK (week after Christmas) to do some scouting/recon for the We DO ceremony, etc.

If I do both of those trips, I do not need this run, and I honestly need the ~$700some much more. If I don't do the run, and then either (or, worse, both) of those trips fall through, then - absent a heck of another amazing mistake fare or something - there most likely will be no Platinum next year, which I really did want to have for purposes of complex-honeymoon-award-ticket booking.

Of course, getting my parents to a) promise that BKK will happen and b) actually follow through on that, by this evening, without telling them "hey, I sort of have this ticket on hold...", would be a miracle of the highest order. Not holding my breath.

The Y factor was a killer for me, as well. Great fare, but I just couldn't stomach it. Outcome probably would have been different if I needed more EQMs this year.
