I don't know whether it's the part of the state I live in (literally halfway between NYC and Philly and thus in the inner-ring grip of neither), the fact that I told them I'd be driving <10K per year, or the fact that Louisiana is nothing if not :rolleyes:*10 (I've heard the statistic thrown around that 25% of the state's drivers are uninsured)...but my car insurance, from Geico, basically went down by half when I moved here from BTR.

You are going the wrong way. To me, Houston looks like a place where everybody needs to have a spare car at his disposal. I suppose that the two of you could try get away with maybe only one spare. So instead of one car, you actually will need three.

sdm1130, the trick to no car in Houston is:

1. Live within a fifteen minute walk of light rail
2. Live within 3-4 blocks of an intersection of two major bus routes (like one that runs to Greenway/Galleria, and another that does a Rice/Montrose run).

It also doesn't hurt to get to know the manager of your local National Rent a Car. Living in/around downtown, that's the one in the lobby of teh TreeTree.

I'd love to, but Teh Otter One's volleyball team played their way into teh playoffs, so I'm headed to SAT this weekend. I'll be escaping Teh Pit. :D

Thank you. I hear there are only two related feelings that are comparable: finishing teh bar, then finding out you passed teh bar. Hopefully those two are in the future.
