Nasty rain/storms in SAT and AUS now. We need some rain in IAH.

The television at the FLL PC just showed a T-Storm and hail map for IAH.

Finally got my intra-Brazil flights sorted. No can haz award ticket for GIG-REC (only on return). At least the one-way ticket was reasonably priced.

Conference call over. Yikes, these are a killer.

:) And especially when I actually have to contribute for pretty much the whole call, can't slack off on FT during this one. And also, it's at lunch time. At least I still have some of that baked ziti from this morning. ;)

Client wants to get feedback from the branches at the end of the training week. We have a feedback form that we use that is actually pretty good as far as these things go. It's not a "smile sheet", it actually manages to elicit some constructive responses from our customers. We usually get a 30-40% response rate, which is pretty good too. I modified it to be more specific to this client's rollout, and even shortned it because I knew that would be an objection. Their response was that it was still too long. They want it to be no more than 10 questions and all on a 1 - 5 scale, no free form responses. A sample question from their form: "The training was helpful".:mad:

The only reason I care is that a significant component of my performance review is based on this feedback.

I was checking connection flights from Brazilian cities I've never heard of. No dice. My one option was a flight routing through GRU, with a 6 hour layover, that arrived into REC at 02:20am. Considering it would have cost 45 Quid per ticket (change fees and new taxes), it made sense to just buy a one-way.

argggh!

Me: Hi, I'm calling because two of my flights tomorrow are on United, and I don't seem to have seat assignments....

Elite Line: Yes, sorry we can't assign those seats, you'll have to call United. Here's your PNR number for United.
Me: Okay

Me (after failing miserable at gettting the system to recognize my spoken PNR): Hi, I'm flying tomorrow on some codeshare flights with united. I'm originating on CO flights, but then have two flights on planes operated by United, and I don't see that I have any seat assignment when I was about to print my boarding passes. Could you please confirm seats for me?

United CS: What's the date?

Me: It's tomorrow. Do you have my record in front of you?

United CS: Yes, I see. How can I help you?

Me: I need seat assignments.

United CS: Okay, please hold (holding for somewhere between 45-90 seconds)

United CS: What is your date of birth

Me: (i give DOB)

United CS: What is the name of the passenger traveling

Me: Connor Heim

United CS: Okay, please hold (holding for somewhere between 45-90 seconds again)

United CS: Is this for May 15?

Me: Yes, it is for tomorrow, just like I told you before

United CS: Okay, please hold (holding for somewhere between 45-90 seconds again)

United CS: You will need to call Continental for the seat assignment. Since the first flight is on Continetal, they will help you.

Me: No, I just was told by Continental that since the flight is operated by UNITED that I need to call UNITED to get the seat assignments.

United CS: Okay, please hold (holding for somewhere between 45-90 seconds again)

United CS: Sorry, you will need to call Continental

Me: May I please speak to a supervisor?

United CS: Okay, please hold (holding for somewhere between 45-90 seconds again)

United CS: Are you calling to change the date or for a seat assignment?

Me: I need a seat assignment, like I told you at the beginning, May I PLEASE speak with a supervisor??????

United CS: Okay, please hold....

After holding about 3 or 4 minutes I hung up.

Please, baby Jesus, Allah, Muhammad, Reverend Sun Yung Moon, Mother Earth or whoever else I must appeal to, PLEASE do not let this be my future of calling the new merged airline....

this calles for a treble

You just got ICC'ed.

Some would argue that this is better than having no one pick-up the phones. I'm not sure where I stand in regards to this.

Yeah, six hours in GRU isn't really worth it if you wouldn't arrive REC until 2:20 am. Otherwise, you would have had enough time for a jaunt into the city to go out to eat or walk around downtown, but that would have been it. GRU definitely is worth a visit sometime, though.

I'll take the ICC because I can use it to my advantage, if necessary.
