sbm12 must have been on one his flights. ;)

That's a great story, it's always good to have a FA with a sense of humor.

Just checked, mine was for refreshment center in room! Funny thing is we didn't have the key to the refreshment center. Makes you wonder, LeMerdien SFO!!

Some refreshment centers are electronically monitored so that if you remove an item it is automatically charged to the room (in theory). That means that if you accidently bump the refreshment center, it may send a spurious charge to your account since the movement may make it think that an item was removed. I had this happen to me this weekend at the St. Francis in SF.

Someone who was laughing hysterically and stumbling all over the place after 2 drinks was digging around in my fridge as well - it's a miracle I wasn't charged! :p

Had to call Hilton to get refund for hotel we were unable to use on Sunday evening as it was at the airport vs in the city. Since it was a prepay they wanted to charge even though guy was in ER and unable to travel that far. They said "Well since you are a Diamond member, we will give you a once in a lifetime exception for this case!" Guess it really does pay to be elite sometimes!

On top of that, a few photographs were taken that I'm sure our resident Member Generalissimo would appreciate ;)

Since we have been talking about car troubles, as you know my 03 Audi which I have owned since Sept 2003 (new) and was a reasonable car, now has 141K miles on it. The engine is broken. It basically is a known design flaw of the Audi engine (doucmented by the company itself) and there is little I can do about it except get another car. (I could write to Audi about it, but I imagine that asking for compensation for a 7 year old, 140k mile car is about as ludicrous as it comes!)

I was planning on keeping the car for at least 200K miles (another 2-3 years) and was maintaining the car for that purpose. That is not to be.

So now I want another car with the same interior level, and a better engine with good gas mileage. I hate the car buying process and I hate changing cars at all. I am not a car person other than I want one that turns on when I need it to. The Audi A4 was perfect but I will not buy another Audi. How about BMW 3s or a diesel (I am fascinated with these engines)?

One of my racquetball buddies loves his BMW 3 - I don't have any other frame of reference as this type of vehicle is not prevalent in my part of Tennessee ...

Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse for Palm, this happens: http://news.cnet.com/8301-31021_3-20003695-260.html

If and when a merger is announced, I will put forth on FT a CHANGE missive that will take a position on the merger that may be different that what some might expect from me. In a nutshell preview, if Continental Airlines can no longer be what it was intended from its very founding to be, a full-service airline that successfully distinguishes itself from competitors through superior service and amenities -- and given the totality of the moves taken by the airline in the past 18-24 months, it appears that this may be the case -- then it's time to sunset the Continental Airlines story, and to do so in a way that preserves the interests of its shareholders, creditors, employees, and customers in the best way possible (i.e., in a solvent merger rather than a decrepit bankruptcy down the road).

The BMW turbo engines, e.g. 335i, have known fuel pump issues. The normally aspirated engines are fine.
