Starting over is very hard work, but it pays in the end. I took 5 lessons after having played for a few years and then I was at the range every day learning how to swing again. Now I can go months without playing and my swing stays the same.

I also have mechanical changes to factor in from weight loss. By the time I go back to golf (probably next spring) I hope to be much lighter than I am now. I also at some point have to set a goal for the wedding.

I'd always told myself that if I ever took a long break from golf that upon return I would start clean. Clean to me is defined as learning the Pelz system and having all the shots that he recommends having from 100 yards and in. That's going to be more than five lessons, but I'll be a sniper with all four wedges.

A large piece of me gets :mad: every time I hear a newscaster bumble through a military story. Just last week I heard the Chief Twit on Action News (Jim Gardner) say "CH dash 47 helicopters". He verbalized a dash. :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Fair point. I wonder if it differs for hotel programs. I recall reading that one of the motivators for the recent spate of excellent Hyatt promos was that they were not meeting their target levels for Plats/Diamonds. Perhaps that was just uninformed speculation, as well.

Agreed. I had to do a project at a plant in CAN last fall. Guangzhou is the epitome of "meh." We took the train to HKG for the weekend. Very nice. The JW is a nice place to stay, especially on someone else's dime.

If I may offer a small bit of explanation: He was very likely reading from a teleprompter. Teleprompter copy is supposed to spell out (or not spell out) specific terms like that to make it easier for the person reading it to spit it back out. That script was likely written as C H dash forty seven, or CH-47 on the prompter, which is how the dude said it.

It should've been written as C H 47. But people are :rolleyes:.

That's a bad one, as is when said soldiers who receive it are referred to incorrectly as "winners". They are recipients. They did not fall on a grenade and therefore claim the top prize in a lottery. :rolleyes:

The other one, despite its non-applicability to me personally, that grates my cheese is "ex-Marine". All members of the USMC who left the service under honorable conditions are "former Marines".

Heh, something like that. My degree is in radio/tv broadcasting, so I worked in both the radio and tv stations, serving as an impromptu broadcast engineer for a while since they didn't have one in house and thus nothing that broke was fixed. I fixed the teleprompter system more times than I can count (and a bunch of other junk that should've gotten me more than a bloody C).

I wrote TelePrompTer copy in high school. That's why adults who get it wrong annoy me so much.

Any suggestions for a rain jacket that is lightweight with a little bit of warm material inside of it?

I stopped watching the news and listening to the radio (except for the Charlie Hodge Rock n' Roll Halftime Show) because I got so tired of hearing everyone screw it up all the time. Also, commercials. I got a DVR so I didn't have to deal with commercials anymore.
