True. But IMO only in a few very competitive major markets. Many business travelers have little choice of airlines since they need to go where they need to go and the company that they use is the one that goes that way on the schedule that they need.

I'd suggest that the majority of passengers are connecting or flying in a market served by multiple nonstop carriers. Yes, there are hub fortresses but not nearly as many as ther are folks flying. So there is more of a choice than you suggest.

The great majority of those who find FF plans very important have already chosen their plan and stick with that carrier unless their company declares differently.

Or unless they see greener pastures somewhere else. The FT community is VERY advanced in our understanding and use of FF programs. The random schmoe who flies every week but cannot figure out how to redeem miles ever has much less loyalty than you give him credit for, especially when the other guy is offering a notable bonus to give them a try.

Boat ride out to the 14th green at Cd'A yesterday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-yXnxnLOws.

Photos are uploaded now as well. At least I managed to come up with something vaguely useful to do while in the airport this morning.

The DB in 1A put his bag under his seat, in my legroom. I had no qualms about suggesting I could put it overhead for him.

I wonder if the folks on Smith St realised that their newest social media destination would turn into FaceBox.

Good morning, Box!

RE: Boneyard at Goodyear, AZ

In follow-up to my visit to the boneyard, I got this info from Scott:

In all the years I've been with Continental, I've never seen us exit an aircraft from the fleet and then later bring it back. In the case of these birds, they've either been returned to their lessor but are still in our colors, or are still in our custody but permanently withdrawn from use until we find a buyer. Many of the 737-500s, like the one you're referring to, are finding their way to Eastern Europe/Russia to replace the older Tupolevs. If you want to kick your geekiness up a notch, I'd recommend picking up a copy or subscribing to Skyliner magazine, which has a section dedicated to showing first revenue flights, last revenue flights and ownership transitions. It's way cool.
Thought some of you might be interested...

I very much doubt that their social media people ever anticipated seeing the phrase "world's tallest urinal" on that page either. :D

My condolences to the Astros fans of The Box.

The fact that the Diamondbacks scored more runs in one game than the Astros have scored all season tells me all I need to know.

There is not enough ^ in the world to accurately convey the amount of ^ in terms of both application and timeliness of this statement.
