I gotta get some stuff done around here and go to bed early. Tomorrow, I work in OC. See all tomorrow.

Mackieman Apr 11, 2010 9:07 pm

To bed with me. Great weekend, but exhausting. :)

no issue in parking, it is a legit expense extra if you are delayed etc.

Good evening.

I add my belated condolences to Flyer_70 and Mr. Flyer_70.

Just caught up on the Box after a weekend at a family wedding, which was surprisingly fun. I saw my father's first cousin for the first time in 12 years. He impressed my children by living on a ranch and having nine horses. Also, I relearned an old lesson, that the quality of a wedding toast is usually inversely proportional to its length.

Catching up on the Box after two days away was made much easier by the presence of a certain housewarming party in Texas, I surmise.

I am also a partial lefthander -- I am probably naturally right-handed (bat right, throw right, severely right-footed from my futbol-playing days) but write left-handed, probably due to having taught myself to write by watching my parents, both of whom are lefties.

Good evening, Box. Sounds like the Mackie-DO was quite the event, and I'm sad I missed it. Maybe next time ...

No box announcement. At about the time of the AUS DO, MIL found out she had cancer. She passed away this past Thursday. We are in Houston for the funeral.

She is in a better place and it wasn't unexpected. The mister had come to terms with this a while ago so is doing just fine, along with the rest of the family.

Thanks for asking, guys!

My sincerest sympathy goes out to you and your family, Flyer_70.

You wife must be a strong woman. Working with sick children must be probably one of the most difficult jobs in the world, especially more so when you are a parent yourself. It breaks my heart to hear of children who are terminally ill.

+1. For some reason, we always end up owing to NJ, even though i figure I send way too much every quarter. this year we ended up owing over $600 :td:

Good night box!

Flyer_70 Apr 11, 2010 9:45 pm

Good evening Box. Mr Flyer_70 and I very much appreciate all the thoughts and wishes. Was a nice thing to come home to.

Did not think I was going to cry at the funeral but BIL took care of that! :) He did a lovely video tribute that had everyone in tears. The Mister did a nice impromptu eulogy as well.

RIP Susan. Your family will miss you.

My condolences as well. Always hard, especially when it is so quick.

I can't remember a single year where I didn't owe additional taxes to NJ. Good to know I'm not alone...

If all goes well in the coming weeks, 2010 should be the last year we file NJ state taxes. ^

sdm1130 Apr 11, 2010 9:48 pm

Flyer_70 - I'm a little late, but I'd like to add my condolences to you and your family.

Thank you too, Sir. :)

Never ceases to amaze me - the kindness of Teh Box.

I've owed NJ a few times, and there have been a few years where my return was under $50, but this year was the ultimate insult. I just had to stroke a check for one dollar. The verbiage used in the NJ forms says no payment required for all sums less than one dollar. No, it doesn't say "One dollar or less"; we both re-read it.

I don't normally use the Memo section of my checks. That check, I did. Its contents:

I HATE NEW JERSEY.

I want out, and I want out in a bad way.

Forgot to share this with Teh Box: I did indeed make the final cut of 50 applicants; got accepted to the Master's program I've been talking about. Can't accept the admission. That'll be a fun letter to draft tomorrow.

ConciergeMike Apr 11, 2010 10:13 pm

adelauro, you think it's another first-round exit? Any reason for optimism given that we drew the Phlyers in the phirst round?

We missed you this weekend and you were both thought of. Wishing the best to you both during this time.
