Upgrade shenanigan's tonight leaving IAH. One empty seat in F. Captain gets a message from ops about a broken seat in Y, so he goes to talk to the passenger. Gate agent comes down, says "Stick him in 1A". There are other seats available in Y, and 6 or more people on the upgrade list on my final report. GA tells the guy to sit in 1A. Starts to step off the plane, and I say, "excuse me, we have open seats in Y, as well as people on the upgrade list. Why are we giving this person guy their seat?". He looks at me, gives me an "I don't give a ...." glare, rolls his eyes, says "that's where he's sitting," and shuts the door. I was pissed, and unfortunately, since the guy was already seated at the direction of the GA, there's nothing I could have done at that point. I wanted to make a point to go to the guy who should've had the seat, explain what happened, and encourage he complain about it, but since I was working F, I never got an opportunity (well, that and it slipped my mind). I find this situation completely unacceptable. What really bothers me is that this wasn't a situation where the agent simply missed something, it's that I flat out told him about empty seats in Y and the elites who should have had priority for that seat, and he showed a flagrant disregard for their business and money.

I'm giving up trying to get sleepy infront of the computer. I'll crawl into bed and try to find something on TV that will put be to sleep like something with an Alan Aldo voice over.

sdm1130, if you're around: Sound Connection sent us a demo disc, and anything on it that was recorded after 1965 seems to have digital :rolleyes:ization applied to the tracks. The only unmolested track we have come across is by Dion and the Belmonts. Nothing against Dion, but it seems like everything modern has a beat behind it that is unneccesary. Comment? Did they play a bunch of club mixes for you?
During our final meeting, we told him what genres we did and didn't want them to play and he followed it 100%. We had a somewhat older crowd at our wedding and he quickly went with that and played a great mix of songs that fit the crowd. People were dancing before the first course was even served and they continued throughout the night. Several people commenting on how great the DJ was and how much enjoyment the music added to the night. Hope this helps... I know exactly where you are coming from because the last thing we wanted was some guido pumping club mixes and screaming "Let's get this party started!". I actually told him I didn't want anything like this (leaving out the guido part :)) and I really feel like they delivered. |
Night, Box. Another failed night of screening wedding songs. To be fair, my iTunes library is not exactly the speed and content we're looking for, and one of her best friends already used the one non-traditional choice that I would love to use: Metallica's version of Nothing Else Matters with the SFO Symphony behind them. :-::-:

I'd throw out some suggestions based on what we picked, but I think your style is a bit different... |

I definitely know what you're saying... We experienced this with a lot of the CDs given to us by DJs. When we had our final meeting with Sound Connection, he mentioned that they re-did their demo CD - perhaps they added more club mix type tracks to appeal to that audience. I'm not sure. Bottom line - the demo CD doesn't really give a proper representation of any DJ, IMO. How could it? It's just a bunch of songs and mixes... The best way to get the vibe of a DJ and make sure you'll be happy with their work is to go meet with them.

Hello from IAH, Box.
I made it! thank goodness, because I have a 6am CO flight to EWR tomorrow! Or, rather, today, given the time! My flight arrived into ORD at 20:24 at gate B16. My flight to IAH was out of gate B15 scheduled to depart at 20:47. I barged off the plane and ran like the wind and made it just in time. As I was running up to the gate the GA was calling "Are you Mrs. Brituchenite?" and I gasped "yes" and she said "we were waiting for you. Need to close up, run down the jetway" To which I gave many  given that I had just run like a maniac and could barely breathe! Anyway, it was good of them to hold the door for me! We took off on time. I am now sitting in the lobby of the IAH Marriott on a comfy sofa and will be here until I check in for my flight. |
