Or as Pelosi put it, "We will be joining those who established Social Security, Medicare..."

There is little need to worry about the HCR bill. It's pretty clear that in the coming months, the centrist-conservative political majority in the USA will reassert itself, and no matter which party controls Congress after November, the bill will be significantly reworked in 2011 and beyond and many parts will never see the light of implementation.

Without going all OMNI P/R here, all of this was done at the expense of more important things, like creating jobs, fixing the RE market, etc. I hope that the agenda goes more toward things that are going to be meaningful. We spent a boatload of calories on this whole process, and I agree with the assessment you give.

It means they actually have to get to work on pressing matters now that this side distraction is out of the way.

I'm sure they'll find a new distraction so they won't have too. Has any Senators put their  where it doesn't belong lately?

I'd disagree with the irony; Social Security is solvent for the foreseeable future, and both SS and Medicare are enormously popular. There is a long-term issue with Medicare costs that no one wants to address on either side of the aisle.

[/OMNI]

On a different note, will you be in LA later this week? I'll be out there Weds and Thurs.

Olton Hall Mar 21, 2010 9:16 pm

I know what they'll do. They are going to hold hearings into the Tiger Woods scandle.

This idea sounds cheap. I like it.

Popular, yes; I agree with the solvency issue on Medicare. SS will have to change in order to help folks at my age level...

I am in town all week. Strangely, I have a completely free calendar on Thursday, and I only have a lunch on Wednesday. PM me if you want to have drinks and/or lunch. I work in Century City...
