 Big tree fell down. Missed the house and my neighbors. Clipped my car and I had to rescue it. I don't know how much paint damage there is and won't know till it stops raining. Knocked the Honda emblem of my trunk lid. I really don't have the money to clean up this mess. :(
Saw the show/musical Enron this evening. It was really quite good! |

I'm more worried about the cost to clean up the tree and the big hole in the ground. I really don't know what kind of damage my car has. It looks fine but the rain I'm sure is hiding the scratches. At least not of the windows broke.
I'm watching the news and there are big trees down all over NJ/NY/PA land. One thing that's bringing down so many trees is the wind is blowing in the opposite direction in normally does when it's this windy. We learned when the hurricane blew through here two years ago and took out our biggest tree that you should wait as long as you possibly can to call someone... the price gouging is pretty steep in the immediate aftermath. Hang in there. |

Sounds like a pretty crazy night to be flying in to JFK (and all NY airports I'm sure) - winds steady around 40mph, gusting to 50+mph (as high as 74!) and wind shear +/- 20 mph at 1000ft.

8 EWR-bound planes were diverted to ALB this afternoon.

Trees and wires down all over my town including a block from my house. Glad the power is coming from the other direction.
Belynch - I heard a bus has live wires on it by you. |
I forgot, to add to my misery today, it's the transmission on my washing machine that's make all the noise. :(

Apparently the Canucks decided to just give up and head back home.

A DL 752 missed their approach to JFK and decided to divert all the way down to RDU.

I"m really glad I flew back home yesterday.
Getting home from Princeton, which should take 20 minutes, took 80 minutes. Most of teh roads are closed due to flooding or downed trees. Fun fun. I just heard the KLM 744 over the house, it was freaking loud and not very high. Based on the noise, i'd say it was somewhere betwen 3k-4k feet, which is very low for this area, normally they closer to 6k-8k. And when did KLM upgauge AMS-EWR to a 744? ETA: It was a JFK diversion, that explains it. |
