That'd be awfully quick. I've heard nothing on the subject. I wasn't even aware Hersheys made the Cadbury products domestically until the acquisition offer was first made.

Sweet. Thanks for that. I wasn't familiar with "hot spare" either...on the USAF side of the house, it was simply called "the spare".

Yeah...it is interesting. Perhaps vestiges of the mechanics union troubles from late last year? I know that CO cuts the schedule in the winter but it does seem strange that they have multiple wide bodies available to do stuff like this, especially with the IAH-GIG and IAH-FRA flights on the books.

CR7's might suck in the real world, but I set a personal best in Airline Mogul with one. One of my CR7's is earning me a shade over $1M. First million-dollar earner I've ever had.

At some I have to pack for the weekend.

I don't know enough detail of the schedule to comment, but we do know how aggressively CO packs the schedule.

Heard my first unnecessary use of "literally" after having the Olympics on for less than 10 minutes.

It is an awesome drive around that facility to see all of the unused planes.

Why I love EWR, part 2

Not a good day

As noted previously, I missed the delayed 2:50 PM CLE-EWR and elected foolishly to stay with the delayed 4:40 PM flight figuring that I should be able to make an 8:40 connection to EWR. So, we don't pull out of the gate until 6:15 due to ATC flow control and then get deiced and go wheels up at around 7:05PM. Still plenty of time to connect .....NOT. The flight takes almost 75 minutes to reach EWR and then we miss the approach, so around we go again and we don't arrive at the gate until 8:40 PM. Of course the plane pulls into gate 110 and the connection is at 90. But run over there I do, but alas, the DOOR IS CLOSED and that is that. So, they book me on a 10:15 AM flight so I can miss almost the entire day of work. I ask and get a standby on the 6:15 AM. We will see whether I get on. Naturally snow is forecast for tomorrow as well. Now I am overnighting in a Hampton Inn, no dinner, moo moo moo.

When I asked if CO would give anything for the delay, the looks I got from the PC people would have been worth recording for posterity. Well, off to get 4-5 hours of sleep. I hope I get on the early flight. Goodnight all.

I didn't think there was a set-aside 772 spare either. I remember the Director of SOCC saying that all three hubs had one spare 737 and IAH/EWR had one spare widebody. I have suspected for quite some time that the EWR widebody spare is the 762 that always seems to be parked across from the P4 AirTrain stop...which gates that spot is near is escaping me right now.

I'm pretty sure the EWR spare is a 777. Between TLV, PEK, PVG, NRT, HKG, and LHR, they need a 777 as the spare. A 762 would be useless for the majority of widebody flights out of EWR.
