is this seriously an olympics?!

Does it seem too individualistic compared to the Chinese opening ceremony? Or did that spoil it for me?

The cabs in Houston vary in size/cleanliness. Most seem to be new-ish. I took a cab ride in a Lincoln Navigator. Yes, it is a cab. Most seem to be mini-vans and not Crown Vics - though there are Crown Vics:

I'm still disturbed by the luger death. The video was horrifying. I did not see the ceremony but hopefully there is a tribute in there. I get that these events can be dangerous but I sincerely hope there is an investigation with the luge set up.

I would think that they would monitor that stuff so closely so as not to give one competitor an advantage over another. But then, the Olympics has never really been a place of transparency into the goings on of its events. Just like the claim that there was not absolutely staggering amounts of sex going on in Olympic Village.

Some Olympic honcho just now mentioned the tragedy. But maybe my TV is set wrong as far as the sound settings, but it sounds like a crowd shouting "Lou" or "Boo" in the background...

Oh, thanks to Steph3n and sfogate for the recommendations regarding the Cracked Pepper/Olive Oil triscuits. Went very nicely with the sharp cheddar and gruyere swiss I happened to have in the fridge. Anybody have any other cheese suggestions I should look for?
