I am actually excited about it, but have some worries that I need to clarify for myself.

Good! Awareness and growth is all positive!^ I concur!;)

Yes, sometimes growth requires some 'pain/sacrifice' along the way!:eek:

Well, I didn't import all 2000+ at once (100-300 at a time, depending on how much shooting I did during the day).

I usually keep a rolling 2 years in my "active" catalog, and then previous years get split into volumes when I hit around 8-10K images. The most I've had in a single catalog has been 15K. From what I've read, people tend to see a performance hit at 20K or higher.

I'm of the "never delete" school, so about the only things I cull for deletion are obviously duffed shots (unsalvagable framing, missed focus, etc). Every now and then, I have a 1TB drive I keep stashed at the office that is my off-site backup.

I've never known rice and beans to get anyone out of a funk. Wine and chocolate, yes.:-: Rice and beans: FAIL.

Hey -- good research on the 'shut down' thread!^

Thanks. :-: When children demand compensation (he's 19, IIRC) that tends to irk me.

You've obviously never worked customer support in the IT world. The number of calls I've taken that essentially consist of people yelling at me because they yelled at their computer for some period of time and it didn't change its ways it more than I care to recall.

So true. Customer support in lots of disciplines turns into that. I used to get yelled at over something by hotel guests, make what they were screaming about happen for them, and then get a profuse apology for having yelled in the first place.

I still fly for work. I am just going to skip DOs and such for probably a couple months. I have a big trip planned in May-June as well, that I may skip to get on top the major mountain in front of me. I still need to make the trip sometime this year, I owe it to my family and could not stand to miss it overall, but I think it may be in the way here in the looming months.

Some at the DO know what I am talking about, basically I am looking at a large real estate transaction that will shape and form my life for the next 10 years.

It is about having time to focus, and not dwell on what is happening today at home rice and beans are good for that.

red, black, white, so many beans, maybe even throw a few peas in the mix. doubles up that they are cheap, fridge food, and reheat well, very robust.

Feels good to even talk about it here vaguely, as its a bit like a rubber band winding up here of late. Stress of it is , one day you think you have found what you need, and the next the owner goes ohhh...I looked back and forgot a ZERO on that last communication.

When I was in law school I essentially subsisted on rice, beans, and diced hot dogs for dinner. For 3 years. At first I really liked the rice/bean/hot dog combo. By about the middle of the 2nd year, I was pretty tired of it. Now, many years later, I can't even be near the concoction without dry heaving.

May your life not be so austere.

I have worked in customer service-related positions -- at the FED & for a brokerage firm -- but it was usually dealing with more 'tangible' issues that could be resolved, more or less!

I think when the complainant is someone who just wants to scream & not listen or be pro-active in finding a solution -- then of course, no one wins!

Kudos for AC exchanging my bump MCO into a Star Alliance MCO that will be valid on all Star carriers, including our beloved CO.
