Some minor housekeeping items:
Same-day standby change:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/10993890-post55.html
Change to reflect the new rules for Platinum fees.
Code Inaccuracies
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/11568920-post56.html
There are two different GG codes for the same thing--"GG OVS DOWNGRADE" or "GG OVB DOWNGRADE."

Why isn't the main FAQ thread locked? (Only authorised people should be able to post there)
Delete existing posts that are not FAQ responses (or reboot the thread completely)
Why isn't this Development thread itself stickied?

Eligibility - Post 31 - includes the following text, presumably outdated:
Anyone with a OnePass account may upgrade to BusinessFirst (or equivalent) on Continental, Northwest, KLM and Copa using your OnePass miles. You can locate the amount of miles necessary on the Continental website here.
Upgrades must be requested at least 24 hours prior to departure.
Please note that only Continental Onepass members redeeming Onepass miles, irrespective of elite status, may request a waitlist.

No one ever asked for it to be.
This information (it was post 32, FWIW) has now been updated. That post also now reflects the ability to process the upgrade online, a relatively new feature.

Update to the checked baggage rules has been made reflecting the new policies for *G/*S and F/BF pax (who got SERIOUSLY downgraded...I didn't realize how bad that one was).

Elite security line at SAT T2
I don't have a reference to point you to, but can confirm from experience that there is an "elite" line at SAT T2. It is not always open, but when it's not the regular line is usually quite short.
cheers!

B-up fare automatic?
OK< have searched this topic and its progenitor and cannot find the answer. If you have purchased a B fare and you do NOT get upgraded as an elite (gold) at the time of purchase, are you supposed to call in and request it?
Also, if non-elite companion on same itinerary but different record also has a B fare, does that increase his likelihood of last minute upgrade over a non-elite gold companion with a lesser fare?

As a companion they will be prioritized based on the sponsoring companion's status then fare class then time added to the list.

You can also upgrade online if the seat opens up.

Hmm, I understood from sbm12 that you have to call if it doesn't happen automatically. On my particular flight, for example, FC is WIDE open. The CO website is a bit nebulous about the process, which is why I think it qualifies for one of "Life's greatest mysteries".

You don't want to be looking at the seat map; that doesn't tell you how many seats are available for upgrade. If the inventory (ZE) is available you'll have an option on your reservation to upgrade the segment in question. So it can be done online or via telephone if the inventory is there. When I said above that you had to call in I should have said the you have to be proactive about it and that it wouldn't happen automatically, not that it must be via telephone. Sorry for the confusion.

Unless it's changed (again) you can online. I did this ... I'm thinking about 9 months back.

Oh, so Zat is ze answer!
Anyway, I think it would still be helpful to explain to other elite but relative unsophisticates what you should do if you end up purchasing a B fare, either in the "Greatest Mysteries" section or on the CO website. Better not to have to wait in the EUA queue until others leave you groveling!
