Well since nobody has confirmed that they WERE being made before it was announced that the changes were being rescinded, I think it's safe to call it a wash.

In all fairness, what they could reduce or eliminate would be the elite mileage bonuses for Q or T fares. That wouldn't make much difference to me. Eliminating or reducing actual status miles that allow me to earn elite would be a big problem for me. . . .

I think it's fair to say that the rumors of the restoration of benefits from cuts that ain't been announced yet are premature.

Uh oh... Gordo's troops in the OnePass Dept. don't have a real good track record of saying changes are "for the better" and meaning "for the better of the customer"...

I sent a sharp email protest to Onepass and urged others to do so. Got this reply signed by a CS manager:
"There aren't any present changes to the OnePass program. There are also no future official changes."
Sounds definite and maybe somebody up there is listening. (Then again, maybe official changes are pending Gordo's return from the golf course!)

Cutting out elite bonus miles from Q/T fares, BTW, would be of questionable strategic value. It wouldn't bring them any more cash revenue in the short term and could actually be very costly if it causes only a small percentage of "seatwarmers" to switch programs. CO would probably match it if an airline like AA or UA initiated such a change, but it would likely just lead to a USAir-style retraction without matches.
Besides, they've done such great work on the "devaluation" and award-redemption-difficulty side that they hardly need to put the brakes on handing out miles.
Maybe the next thing will be a Goldpoints-style program where they hand out four times the number of points, but awards cost 6 to 8 times as much. Just to confuse everybody.

They may back off on further changes too now "

Very good sign...
The main concern of T/Q becoming non-upgradable via EUA has been eased, though.

Now I hear from my source in Houston that there will be a fourth elite level (Titanium) that will be based solely on $$ spent and not miles flown. Included will be one complimentary upgrade to BF per $50k spent in tickets - provided as an e-cert called a "Onepass E-reward" provided to "our best customers".
(Of course, my source is a homeless guy on a park bench, but that seems to be as accurate as anything else in this thread.)

Sorry for this comment coming 3 days after the original post. I am not a regular on the CO board but do scan it occassionaly.
NJDavid, I went to your website and read thru the issues. The one that really blew me away was #3, int'l upgrade policy. That alone would be enough to send me in search of a new program. Add to it the announced 2003 changes and it would be adios for me.
Good luck effecting some change to the program.
Congrats, looks like you guys and gals were able to effect change. Good for you!

What has been inaccurate, njdavid? All the information was accurate when it was released and continues to be updated as it changes and more is found out.
It's kind of like ... all news.
