As long as you have some activity - you can retain HP miles for up to three years - Hotel or rental partner keeps the miles alive

freakflyer, maybe you aren't aware of all the possibilities with HP. Any ticket booked online gets a 3,000-mile bonus. So four tickets gets you another 12,000 points. That's 24,000 points total. And on HP, a free domestic-U.S. trip is only 20,000 off-peak. They are the only airline, I believe, that still offers it at that level.
Also, part of my point is that you could make HP your No. 2 carrier or such, and thus maintain status, and probably save your company or clients a lot of money in the process.
But you are free to choose whatever airlines work best for you, and maybe HP doesn't. HP doesn't work best for me, either -- yet -- although I think I will be switching perhaps in the next year. Good travels to you.

"Any ticket booked online gets a 3,000-mile bonus."
The bonus is slightly more restricted than for "any ticket booked online." Passengers must complete roundtrip flights and travel before 12/31/02.
"And on HP, a free domestic-U.S. trip is only 20,000 off-peak."
Travel within/between the Contiguous 48 US, Alaska (though HP no longer serves Alaska), and Canada is 20,000 miles all year on America West/America West Express. There is no peak/off peak requirement.
"They are the only airline, I believe, that still offers it at that level."
Alaska Airlines still offers a 20,000 mile award level.
US Airways offers a 20,000 mile offpeak award level.

I took the outbound leg of my last HP flight today (AUS-BFL). The ticket agent confirmed that HP would match CO's status, but she thinks it is only until the break-up. Anyone know is this is correct?
I may or may not take it, I still havent decided who gets my non-CO western business.

Boy, TW1 sure keeps me straight! I was going to suggest getting together for a beer again sometime soon, but now I'm afraid I might mess up ordering!
As for the 3,000-mile online booking bonus, it pretty much is an open-ended bonus. Of course, they could end it at the end of the year, but it's already been extended a few times. I think it first started in 2000.

In my mind, this was a major mistake for CO. I fly regularly from EWR to CA ...and more often then not use AmericaWest ... simply because they always have reasonable fares ---- usually aroun $500-1000 cheaper.
I will call AW around 12/02 and ask for comp status next year ....
CO is making several major mistakes ... my gut tells me that within 1-2 years they will be engaging in a Sunday Chapter 11 filing.

The last time I was at the America West Club I was asked: "Are you elite on America West or any other airline"
America West has shown little restraint in offering status comps.
Is it any harder to upgrade as a result?

I was comped to platinum at a Presidents Club when they found out I was a Platinum WorldPerks member. Just got my card last month. I think they are hungry...
