Sunday the 21st sounds good for waterstrider and me. (Saturday would work too.)
We love Cantina Marina, but with the Nats playing in town I wouldn't want to risk the crowds. (I'd definitely risk the weather, though.)
I love the idea of the boat trip on the Chesapeake. Definitely in for that one when it happens.

Not that I do not like Lauriol Plaza, it is such a zoo. Alternatives that I suggest are:
Straits of Malay (across the street from LP), Saint-Ex at 14&T, or Tabac (U St). All have outdoor dining. The bigger issue is the size of the group. LP has the space to handle a big group of 10+ while the others are more of a challenge.

Even knowing it can be a total zoo, I still vote for Lauriol Plaza. I think of it as a fun place -- we just need to start on the earlier side to make it easier to get a table for the group.

An alternative to LP is Cactus Cantina, which is essentially the same restaurant in a different location (same owners, same exact menu, same margaritas
). It's not as crazy as LP, and, most importantly, it is much much easier to find parking around there. Also relatively easy to reach with the 30's buses up Wisconsin Ave.

A man who understands how to how to get my vote! I second Cactus Cantina, assuming it can handle a group of our size (exactly how many we will be is unclear, but I'd guess more than 10).

(oops) Okay, so that was 3 of 3.Cactus Cantina sounds fine - if they take reservations, it would make them an even better option.

Per their website:
"We accept lunch reservations Friday, Saturday and Sunday, between 11:00AM-2:00PM."
No dinner reservations are accepted on weekends.

I thought this was for dinner ... we can forego the reservation, how about 5:30?
If lunch, my preference is later but it'll kill the day regardless.

Dinner works, too. I agree with GoingAway that we'll have better luck at 5:30 pm.
Any further discussion/objections/concerns?
Is there anyone who can only make dinner or only make lunch?

Cactus Cantina works for me as well. Sunday dinner at 5:30 is OK too.

Any DC people doing anything this weekend? I'm going to be downtown on Friday night through midday Saturday...likely hitting the Nats on Friday night since I've never been to the new park. Staying at Ren M Street... I will be with one buddy from college, but we'll end up doing before & after drinks somewhere I'm sure...

I've put the June 21st date on my calendar. Hope to make it! I'm not traveling much at all this summer.
