Technically, I would call AS81 a red-eye flight, because we will take off from SEA while it is still dark and touch down in ANC moments before the sun rises.

I have experienced short night times in Sweden several times, but never experienced short day time, so it is going to be an interesting experience for me
I guess the northbounds all depart before midnight:

Code:
Flight Rating Carrier Sched Actual Gate Sched Actual Gate Status Equip. Track
AS 109
	Alaska Airlines 7:00 PM 7:00 PM ~ N2 9:48 PM 9:48 PM ~ T-S

AS 117
	Alaska Airlines 10:00 PM 10:00 PM ~ C9 12:53 AM 12:53 AM ~ T-S

C3 Scheduled
On-time 73Q [Setup a flight alert] [Track flight in real time]
The last two would probably be considered red-eyes, wouldn't they?

It's much more pronounced southbound, though:

C1 6:45 AM 6:45 AM ~ N7 Scheduled
On-time 73H [Setup a flight alert] [Track flight in real time]
In peak season, they add AS110, which is a 1:00am departure, for a total of five red-eye departures. (They also add some more evening departures northbound, but I don't have that schedule memorized.)

I drop family and friends off at the airport all the time, and I don't think I've ever dropped anyone off (or picked them up) during the day. They ALWAYS fly out and fly back on the red-eyes (probably due to price, but also because it usually works better for connecting flights).

I work nights at the airport, so late arrivals/departures usually work better for me for airport meet-ups.

Yeah, technically the last two northbound flights are red eyes since these flights arrive the next day. I usually view red eye flights as flights where a plane departs its origin at night time and arrives at the destination at the crack of dawn. So, if leave when dark and arrives at the destination at night it is a night flight for me not a red eye.

What are your working hours at ANC? We will depart ANC at 8am on the 5th, so we might be at the airport early enough to see whatcha doing at work

Right now am in SEA eating at Anthony's.

He's usually off by 2 AM

Anthony's does have good stuff ^^ [Of course so does Ivars ]

Nice to have 2 options there-

I'm probably going to trek to L&L tomorrow myself - apparently one opened in ANC on the 30th of Nov in the Diamond Center ^^

Dimond Center food court. It's a franchised Hawaiian chain. Beckoa thinks it's very ono.

Report:

Enjoyed the Chicken Katsu ^
The BBQ Chicken wasn't quite right... with too much sesame oil and ginger
The mac salad was da kine

Decent portion size, and menu is reasonable- $9.25 for my Chicken Katsu, $8.95 for BBQ Chicken, and $8.50 for Kalua Pork, $.95 for an extra scoop of mac salad... they even have Lau Lau...

So compares to the normal offerings in the islands, not sure if they do the catering (tray sized portions) or not... and the prices are reasonable, only slightly higher then in Hawaii and no sales tax!

Up in the Air now showing the 23rd

Update:

Saw somewhere else on FT that the movie has been moved up to the 23rd, so sounds like we can watch it before X-Mas - I could watch it late on the 23rd (I think I work 12:30-9 PM that day) or anytime on the 24th...

As for tickets- for those of us with a Visa Signature card, we do get a 2 for 1 via fandago (limit 1 a month): http://usa.visa.com/personal/visa-si...ignatureFlag=6

Add me and a friend to the list for the Up in the Air do, especially if it's not on the 25th.

Also, I'd like to split the Visa Signature 2-for-1 deal with someone. Let me know if you're interested.

OK, the wife and I just finished watching "Did you hear about the Morgans?" and saw "Up in the Air" already playing. So someone make a command decision and decide what day we want to see it.

The Morgans was an OK couples movie and the lines for Avatar were ridiculously long.

Glenn

p.s. Too bad they don't have Up in the Air 3D

Avatar in 3D was Freakin awesome. I have never been so engrossed in a movie. The 3D was almost flawless and the story line was interesting, although in the end somewhat predictable. Just the idea of inventing a whole planet with a complete eco-system is almost over powering. The only thing close would be Frank Herbert's Dune series.

If only they could make that in 3D...although, for those of us who have read the series, James Cameron did pinch a lot of the robotic stuff from Herbert.

I LOVED it!^!^!

Hmm... maybe we should watch this over Up in the air?

Haven't seen a 3D movie yet... sounds interesting...

I am off all day the 24th - but I really don't want to miss the limited daylight we have [might go ice fishing]... - so perhaps a late-night showing the 23rd? [I get off at 9 ] unless we want to watch it Xmas Eve in the evening...

Either way, Century 16 is the theatre we'd use I guess...

According to Fandango, it's at Century thru the 22nd and then at Dimond Center starting the 23rd.

Personally, late nights aren't great for me because I have to take the bus . But here's a Doodle poll: respond to it using your FT handle for the dates/showtimes you're available, and we can figure out which one's best.
