Hello ANC,
I'm new to flyertalk and was referred to this thread by jackal after making an intro at the info desk. I first visited ANC in the summer of 2005 and upon returning home I settled all my affairs and moved to girdwood with probably $50 to my name. I own a home in ANC now with my wife and infant son...Ak has been really good to me but neither me or my wife are from AK (I hooked a Canuck) . Our family is spread out b/t both coasts, HNL,NRT, and even a grandmother in PRG which we are going to visit in 2 weeks so she can see her new great-grandson. Flyertalk has been an amazing resource and I look forward to sharing some experiences. In particular I don't have much experience in the points game (or online forums) but I've been down many of roads so I can help with trip planning (Lived in UK and spent extensive time in Asia).

Welcome to Flyertalk BoeingOrNotGoing and our ANC meetup group. Next big thing we have planned is our event this summer down in Sitka, Juneau and Gustavus. If you have some time come on down. Or watch for the summer's first BBQ- sometime next month!

Hello Anchorage Flyertalkers!
I'm a local in Anchorage. My partner and I have spent the last three winters traveling internationally. Each consecutive year we have increasingly utilized credit cards and other deals to help afford long term travel. I have my parents involved in the game as well and I try to get my friends into the game.
I do not know anyone who is passionate about the points and mile game, and would love to meet up with other Anchorage Flyertalkers and passers through for a meal or a beer to swap stories and advice.
Also, how do I get myself added to the wiki of locals?

I think they do the New Year's Eve ones somewhere from down by the port. (I wouldn't know; I spent most NYEs at BOB W's with most of the other ANC FT crew, where we, errr, may or may not have launched some of our own fireworks [at least one year they made it legal!].
) But I used to watch the Fourth ones from the roof of the airport parking garage while I was working there, and they always came from the Midtown area. This site seems to support that.FWIW, here's a video I shot several years ago of the Fourth fireworks--yes, at midnight: http://youtu.be/ALtnTFJ1SgM?t=4m56s

Don't they usually do the Fourth of July ones over Mulcahy Stadium?
