So you going to be my culinary tour guide on Saturday night or lunch Sunday (before the DO on Sunday night)? I lived in Beijing for a while so I can probably handle anything... (I don't think beets make an appearance in Asian food)

Now now, don't plan too much. I actually plan on seeing stuff on Saturday and Sunday during the day.

Oh well... I guess I know what I'm doing on Saturday night when you and AJ are showing Sri Lanka what it's all about. Fish head curry, tiger prawns and crab here I come.
Exactly!!! Why doesn't everybody meet for fish head curry at Apollo's or take over the Newton street hawker center about 2am. We could grab some roti for breakfast on the way back to the airport...

Excellent news, see you there! ^ Do you live in SIN or are you flying in from somewhere else?

Normally it's a 2 x year trip for printing purposes and a bit of eating, but this year we may be trusting the printer to pull it out on their own so it would be just for the food...and the EQM, of course

If I end up being able to go, sure, why not. I used to live in SIN, so I should be able to scare up some decent eats here and there. And visiting Singapore without having chili crab or black pepper crab would be a crime, IMO, so that one is high on the list!

BTW, I have an idea for a warm-up event on Sunday afternoon - are you guys going to be around?

The KM8 beach bar on Sentosa Island is a great place to be on Sunday afternoons, it's very popular with a young-ish crowd looking for a relaxed place to wrap up the weekend. It usually starts to get busy around 3 pm, and people tend to leave by 9 or 10 pm so they'll have no trouble making it to work the next day. It might be a little tight if we really want to have dinner at 6, but if we push that back to 7, then we can easily do 2pm - 6pm at the beach.

KM8 offers low-key Ibiza house music, good drinks, including the signature "Sarong Fly", and sets itself apart through its beach attire dress code and the chance to catch some sun along with your drink.

It got a mention in the New York Times a while ago:

And on Wikitravel:

Speaking of Wikitravel, check out their 3 Days in Singapore advice. I agree with it for the most part, and if you've never been it gives you a decent overview of the island, though I would leave out some of their recommendations for Sentosa. Most of the attractions there, and Underwater World especially, are decidedly underwhelming.

I second the Sentosa Island recommendation! I was just there last month and it was a great place to hang out.

I may just go back when I am in SIN next month again!

Just to clarify, I'm not the biggest fan of Sentosa in general. It's just too Disney-esque, and not particularly exciting for the most part.

IMHO, they do have a winner with KM8 though. ^
