Change in itin for me....

Now arriving on Thursday instead of Friday as I have an obligation with Ms. E on Friday evening. Haven't decided if I'm still leaving Monday. Might push it up to Sunday to preserve some vacation time for later in the year.

shortfinals Nov 22, 2005 10:59 pm

Arriving Early Friday morning. Booked at the Sheraton 13th and 14th nights now. In for dinner both nights :)

**********SIN RUN PAGE UPDATED**********

I have just uploaded the newest versions of the pages. My apologies for the delay in getting this done.

Please have a look and let me know what I need to amend still.

Also have a look at the list of people on the itineraries page. If you are there and cannot go, or if you of somebody for whom that is the case, please let me know and I will PM them directly.

Finally, if you are coming to the main dinner on Saturday night........

Please understand that whether you come for all or part of the meal, the bill will be split an equal number of ways for the number of people present.
Hint: Come at the beginning and eat a lot :)

Looking forward to all of you soon,

Mike

zvezda Nov 26, 2005 7:25 am

Mike, thanks for updating the site. You got me for Saturday dinner, thanks. I'll also be attending the Friday night munch and the Sunday afternoon food court run. My itinerary is on page 16 of this thread.

I'm sorry I couldn't make it in 2005 and am looking forward a repetition of the great time I had in 2004.

mjm Nov 26, 2005 6:13 pm

Roger that. Will do the revision on Monday or so.

Glad you will make it this year. Looking forward to seeing you there in Jan.

Mike

Looks like my plans are buttoned up.

Arriving 13 Jan on SQ 222 from SYD at 9:55pm, then departing to PEK on SQ 822 on 15 Jan at 4:50pm. I'll be staying at the Marriott.

Can't wait to join in the fun... I'm a definete yes for the Saturday dinner and Sunday lunch, but probably won't make it to the Friday night much (1am SIN is 4am SYD.....).

Thanks again for organising this, and glad to make it to my first SIN-do!

dedehans Nov 27, 2005 5:13 am

Thank you for posting details, it helps with the planning enormously.

Mais Oui, I am unable to make this year's SIN DO as there are now meetings planned for me on Jan 11-12 and more than likely the 13th.

That way too high >$1300 USD RT ORD-SIN has made it an easier decision to say no to the trip. :td:

zvezda Nov 28, 2005 12:42 pm

UA895 HKG-SIN on Fri the 13th

It looks like bseller, EdisonCarter, FlyinHawaiian, and I will all be on UA895 from HKG-SIN on Friday the 13th in time for the Friday Night Arrival Munch. Anyone else on that flight?

Yada Yada Nov 28, 2005 5:08 pm

Hi there,

I am a n00b poster on this forum but have been a member of the AFF forum for the past year. Thanks to Kiwi Flyer for letting me know about this thread.

I'm in the process of confirming dates for a trip to SIN and KUL, and it's possible that I might be in town for your weekend get-together.

One thing I noticed was that seafood seems to be a big part of the menu. Unfortunately I am allergic to shellfish (i.e. crustaceans). :( I realise that this can be a real PITA for the person organising a group menu, so I was wondering if it will be easy enough to organise alternatives at the restaurant? I guess I could always just drink beer and not bother about eating. :D

Kiwi Flyer Nov 28, 2005 5:27 pm

Yada Yada - you're not the only person, and IIRC from last year there are non-seafood options and no problems getting enough quantity.

mjm Nov 28, 2005 5:29 pm

Willie,

Now I am even more glad I stopped in ORD a couple weeks ago. Will miss you in SIN, but ORD beckons again soon hopefully. Good luck at work.

Yada Yada,

Got you down on the Maybe list and will upgrade that to confirmed as soon as we hear back from you. BUt for the moment, Welcome to FT and hope you can make it. Have a look at the No Signboard restaurant menu available on their site which is linked to the Dinner page at the event website. That website is here:

SIN Run '06 Webpage

Page updates done to date. Anybody else with details?

Mike

G'day Yada Yada, welcome to the other side.

I have a similar issue with mrs serfty and we have had a close look at the No Signboard Seafood Menu and there are quite a few other options, such as chicken, pork, vegetable, bean curd & even bullfrog  .

We have decided to give it a go ... (perhaps not the bull frog though ... :p )

FlyinHawaiian Nov 28, 2005 9:25 pm

I'll be honest; I'm not a huge seafood eater myself - I am sure there's enough on the menu to feed us too :)

Hi serfty. If I do make it to SIN for that w/e, perhaps I should sit next to mrs serfty, FlyinHawaiin and any other allergic types!

I'm not sure about bullfrog either. Although maybe it would be safer than bird flu chicken! :D

infoworks Nov 28, 2005 11:30 pm

The chicken wings at no signboard are good :)

fly4fun Nov 28, 2005 11:57 pm

seafood allergy

serfty, Yada Yada,

Do not worry about the menu, we had similar situations at No Signboard in the past and all went great.

There are plenty of non-shellfish, non-seafood, non-fish choices on the menu (which also includes veggie only items) to suit everyone's dietary requirements.

Hope this helps.

All the best,
R

Heya fellow see-food only NOT seafood guys and gals!

No worries... I was one of those who had a major allergy at the last SIN do and had little problems but I would like to suggest that the few of us who are allergic to seafood form a separate table so we can order our own food and not have to worry about contamination. What say you guys?

Gaz

MJM - You can put me down as confirmed for the whole weekend... :)

You beat me to it in posting the suggestion! ;) Well, may I visit your table to get some chicken wings? :D

That's good! I'm a kosher, diabetic, vegetarian on a no starch diet. I'm glad they'll be able to accommodate me, because I haven't been able to find anything to eat for three weeks. As a diet, it's working well.

Just kidding. Actually, raw non-starchy vegetables are fine.

Me too!!! :) There was another chicken dish (or two) that we had in April at this year's first SIN-Do-Lite that I recall being quite good :)

serfty Nov 29, 2005 3:12 pm

I'm fine with any food, 'tis mrs serfty with the issue, only with seafood; she's fine with fish.
("Fish" is considered different from "Seafood" in many asian regions)

I hope your special meal requests always fulfilled by the airlines... ;)

BTW, other than for religious reasons, did anyone try kosher food on airlines?

I did, on SQ in Y - very interesting presentation (served following traditional customs), tasty food, larger tray than usual Y (hence more comfort when eating) and larger portions. nice experience, might try it again.

Cheers,
R

restlessinRNO Nov 29, 2005 7:59 pm

Well, before someone suggests we change restaurants, let me say I love seafood, and am looking forward to lots of Chilli Crabs and Pepper Crabs. :) :)

cawhite Nov 29, 2005 8:12 pm

Did someone say chili crab? Yummmmm!!!! That's one of the things I noticed about No Signboard when I've been there this year -- there are plenty of options to order, seafood or not! :)

mjm Nov 29, 2005 9:32 pm

A few more peoples' details added now.

Keep the details coming guys, you may be on the same flight(s) as some of your dinner companions.

As for restaurant choice, it is fixed at No Signboard. As they ahve plenty of variety on the menu, most tastes and preferences can be catered to easily.

I am liking the idea of a table (or more) with no seafood. I figure if you can not or will not eat it, it makes good sense to not require you to have it on a platter right in front of you. We shall tend to this seating arranagement on the day and I think everyone will be able to have their first choice ;)

See you soon,

Mike
