And, Tom, I think I may just be able to come up with a bit of spare time to show you the place, grab a bite, etc. ;)

Glad to hear your plans are firmed up. Looking forward to celebrating with you over here.

Take care and enjoy the easy life,

Mike

Well I am going to be doing a very similar trip as Tom (we have been doing our planning together) and hope the invitation is open. Of course it is - once posted in Community it is open for all ;)

Due to other travel plans that we have put recently put together for Chinese New Years (1/29/06) Jerrie will not be along on the Sin Run 2006 and will have to put off her opportunity to sin until a later date.

mjm Jun 16, 2005 6:07 pm

Jim,

In a word, "'Natch" :)

(and for those too shy to ask, magic111 states the case very correctly. Offer was made in Community and is very open to anyone coming through Tokyo.)

Plenty to explore and it is always more fun with intrepid FTers along.

See you in January.

Mike

You know setting up a Tokyo meet after the SIN doo sounds like a fantastic idea ^

I'll make it work ;)

mjm Jun 17, 2005 8:25 pm

Sean,

It will be my pleasure. A comparative sight-seeing tour maybe? ;)

Peteflys, Ms. Peteflys, and myself actually did exactly that for SIN 2005, upgraded to J thru NRT. We took a pitstop in NRT for showers, food, hopping on the internet, and so on at the AAdmirals Club and Cathay's lounge next door. The service in Y on the JL codeshare was absolutely outstanding. The F/A's were great. They even made sure that we had several empty rows for the taking (sleeping), and it didnt' work out that bad at all. The fares didn't fall into "reasonable" range until late fall, 'tho.
And, I think UMGuy actually did use an award for a biz. seat on the JL codeshare. One (perhaps needlessly stated here) perk of the revenue option is that with Plat/EXP status bonuses, Asia promo's AA was running, a little creative routing in the US, it made for one HUGE shot to the AAdvantage account.

The website is now up and running for the SIN RUN 2006! I have amended the first post in this thread to show the link and it is also in my signature file on all my posts.

Quicklink to the website is: http://home.inter.net/mjm/sinrun06.html

When you have a free minute, check to see if I have gotten it right and send your flight/hotel/etc. details when you have them and if you want them posted on the itineraries page.

A few of you often travel with your better half and in the original posts I tried to identify those correctly, but there are some people that I would like to confirm as being either on their own for the trip or traveling as a couple so I can ensure accuracy on the website listing for you.

Specifically:

PETEFLYS
jan_az
auh2o
unagi1

Looking forward to seeing you all again in SIN,

Mike

Night Safari Outing

Considering the "success" and level of interest in last year's Night Safari outing, would it be possible (and not too much trouble) to add that to the website as one of the weekend activities people can sign up for? Meeting at the Sheraton Lobby and taxi-ing over seemed to work o.k.
I'd be up for doing it again..it was blast last year.

Paging Wireless and Airoli to the Springey Horses, please.... :D

mjm Jul 10, 2005 11:46 pm

Give me 24 hours and it shall be done sir :)

And while I am doing the editing I shall put you on the confirmed list too. ;)

Thanks for spearheading that extra outing. It really is one of the better things to do in SIN.

Back at you shortly,

Mike

mjm Jul 11, 2005 9:20 pm

We now have the Night Safari listed as an official event for the SIN Run 2006. Links to the details are available at the bottom of all pages (at the top of the itineraries page though).

skye1, I also have you shown on the confirmed list now. Welcome back aboard sir! :)

***A question was asked of me via e-mail as to how to get your flight and hotels to be shown on the website. Actually you cannot enter them directly there, but rather you should e-mail or PM me those details and I will update the webpage immediately. I will then post to this thread when someone's details or status has been amended.

Talk to you soon,

Mike

shortfinals Jul 11, 2005 11:25 pm

Just had a look at the dates.

I should be in for Friday night, half of saturday night only though :(

have to be in GVA Monday the 16th, if past years have been any indication of my department's regular start of year meeting. Brrrrrr! Whose idea was it to put Winter in January anyway?

Kiwi Flyer Jul 11, 2005 11:31 pm

You could make all Sat night - fly out Sun am SQ318 to London, connecting through to GVA arriving late Sun

sailaway75 Jul 12, 2005 1:06 am

Count me in...

You guys are fast!!!

I should still be in Singapore during this time, so count me in. I have also made enquiries at the New Asia Bar and they will allow me to bring 70 guests up there provided I inform them a month in advance. :)

Well, half way there.... :)

Excellent ^ I'm sure we'll rustle up 70 by then.

When we were up there last month and we came up with the idea of going there for this get together I thought they said 100 ?. Or is that the capacity and one party maximum is 70 ?

Good work all the same. I can just imagine what it will be like up there with 70 FT'ers  :D ^

FlyinHawaiian Jul 13, 2005 2:32 pm

Please add me to the "maybe" group; I'll be trying to find flights on UA to/from LAX around those dates.

Thanks so much for organizing this!

iluv2fly Jul 13, 2005 4:28 pm

What prices have you been getting for this weekend? I'm looking at ~$1300 from ORD. Definitely interested.

Marty, that sounds about right. Ex-SFO fare are 1050 (Q fare < 6 days) and 900-910 (V fares >6 days). I guess you don't have a work commitment in SYD that weekend or are you headed there afterwards?

That's what it's been pricing at for a few months now. I'm thinking it will drop a bit yet.

mjm Jul 14, 2005 8:33 pm

Maybe and definite lists on the website have been updated and itinerary details for a few people have also appeared. :)

Looking forward to seeing you all soon,

Mike

You are the first to confirm attendance (see post #2). And now you are the first to register for all the activities. :) ^ You must be absolutely ready to go! Flights plan? UA run? NRT or HKG?

Flights are still up in the air... I'm pretty confident I'll be on the UA party flight on the outbound, but my return plans are a bit up in the air on dates & routing ;)

Hopefully the party flight materializes in 2006 after 2005's mishap with 4 of us watching the party flight leave HKG as we pulled up to the gate.

EdisonCarter Jul 15, 2005 12:03 am

getting my name in, before this thread gets really long

I've got my tickets, and am up for all events. I'm flying UA, SBA-SFO-NRT-HKG-SIN outbound, with a day in Hong Kong and arriving in SIN Friday night, and SIN-NRT-LAX-SBA on the return, leaving Monday morning.

Did you find a deal or did you just want to book early? I just checked and fares still are $1000+ for stays < 6 days.

EdisonCarter Jul 15, 2005 12:54 am

No deal, unfortunately. I was just twitching to book some more flights.

Do you expect fares from the west coast to ever drop much below $1000?

Punki Jul 15, 2005 7:32 am

We now each have two SWUs available for January. If we can find a really good fare, we will definitely consider going.

If not, we will choose an alternate destination for January.

GK Jul 15, 2005 8:22 am

For those who misconnected in HK last year...well make a stopover in HKG proper this time !

Sean and I will be unable to attend, as he has just been cast in Sleeping Beauty, which runs Jan 12 - 21 in HK.

If that doesn't lure you to our fair city..
