me as well, sure seems as if the <6 day min has not been offered in awhile.

Welp, since I'm now officially moving to Singapore, I suppose I should put myself down as a "yes" on this one. :D
(and it's the perfect weekend, right before classes start, too!)

grayland Sep 27, 2005 11:17 am

Booked the Hilton 5 Jan to 8 Jan 230 SGD.

Conrad was more than double.

I think you have the wrong dates booked. SIN DO is the following weekend.

Falco Peregrinus Oct 1, 2005 3:57 am

I will be there! Award tickets! :p

JOUY31 Oct 1, 2005 7:53 am

Please count me down as a maybe. :)

restlessinRNO Oct 5, 2005 11:37 pm

I'm Confirmed.

Jan. 12 UA 6451 RNO-SFO
.......... UA 837 SFO-NRT
Jan. 13 UA 891 NRT-SIN

Jan.16 UA 890 SIN-NRT-LAX
......... UA 857 LAX-SFO
......... UA 6438 SFO-RNO.

mjm - I'm looking forward to meeting you at the NRT RCC again. :) Thank you for organizing this again.

I've been watching these UA fares for 6 months, hoping they might fall. Instead they have been gradually rising. So I finally decided to "bite the bullet" and ticket. Fortunately I was still able to upgrade to business (NC) on above routing. The prospect of 18 hours in coach is a sobering one (which I have indeed done once). There is currently no NC seating available on UA852 NRT-SFO Jan.16, for instance - however it is available on the later flight UA838 NRT-SFO.

I'm with you Sweet Willie, has anyone seen the < d day min in the last couple of months? I thought fares would come down a little instead of steadily climb.
All the best,

Not since the sale fares UA ran last summer for travel around late August. The current ex-ORD fares aren't much higher than what's been pricing out most of this year for Q fares (at least for what I've been seeing since February).

Spiff Oct 17, 2005 2:09 pm

I've been checking SIN fares several times a week for months and still no love. :(

izzik Oct 17, 2005 3:24 pm

Can't make it to SIN this time around. Have fun for me.

BonnieSEA Oct 18, 2005 1:53 am

I got excited over SFO-SIN fare at www.singaporeair.com of $623, only to realize the Fare Information said "Mileage Accruability: no."

Keep an eye out for NRT fares, as AA keeps extending their validity (SJC-NRT $519 plus taxes). Right now they go out to Dec 14, and hopefully will go out to January pretty soon. I have an award ticket booked NRT-SIN-NRT hoping those NRT fares go down and I can grab one.

Foady Oct 20, 2005 11:08 pm

Sadly, I will no longer be able to make this event. :(

Wongo Oct 20, 2005 11:22 pm

Hmm, only found this thread today. Put my on a maybe. As long as I ams still self-employed. I'm surely able to make it. The FTers will surely will snap up anything cheap from any airlines at this date!

UA's done it and I am oh so close to pulling the trigger except for that damn 6 day min. 5 days would be perfect. Greedy so and sos. ;)

The pdx-nrt fare supposedly had a 3 day not 6 day stay requirement.

"MIN STAY

6 DAYS. MEASURED FROM DPTR FROM GATEWAY."

Alas, no. But the fare has dropped to $304+ for M-TH travel.

Added: At least one ticketing agency, orbitz, does NOT seem to be enforcing this minimum.

Thanks!

Just called the UA HNL reservations center for a price qoute LAX-SIN (with 20 hour stopover in HKG). $1314 or so for an H fare (upgradable using miles). FYI UA 960 SIN-LAX was waitlisted for upgrades on 16 Jan.

paffendorf Nov 12, 2005 12:32 pm

hi guys,
i'll try to join the party.

Moomba Nov 14, 2005 2:55 pm

Hey Mike,

I spotted this thread a while back and have been searching for decent priced J flights from the UK. ^

Well, they just came through and I have booked myself flights as follows:

BA15 LONDON - SINGAPORE 12 JAN 21:45
BA16 SINGAPORE - LONDON 15 JAN 22:40

Can't make the safari, but count me in for the other events. :D

Did I just get a great deal last year?

Looks like I'm going to have to seek more modest accomodation - that means no yellow duck for my bath.

Just checked the Conrad for 13/1 to 16/1 and rates are down to $260 (weekend) for exec floor. $200 for regular room

9V-JKL Nov 15, 2005 4:21 am

Try also this:
http://www.hilton.com/AsiaFreeNight (thanks to Savage25)

Rate is $265 for regular room $325 for exec at the Hilton

Interestingly, presidential suite is available too......$1,775 if you're up for it ^

FlyinHawaiian Nov 15, 2005 11:06 pm

There's a decent rate at the Singapore Marriott if you are in the MarriottRewards program. Rate M11 is $204 Singapore, or $225 SIN if you want breakfast included.

The way these do's go... where you spend all of 3 hours in your room a night, at $1,775, that's gotta be not very good bang for your buck. :D
