Hi, all...I'm so happy to find this thread, and know that we'll be able to join you in SIN for the dinner. (That would be me, and Mr.Bee.) It was just serendipity that our tour pkg. to Singapore would fall into the time frame of the big meet.
I've emailed Mike our itinerary, and this is making our first visit to Singapore much more exciting.

Paging MJM to the SIN Do 2006 courtesy phone... I could use a bit of assistance from you in twisting the arm of a mutual (now-NRT-based) FT friend and convincing him that NRT-SIN-NRT (drop me a PM if you're not clear on the "who") in mid-January would be a good way to start the year off with a bit of a mileage earning opportunity, not to mention the wonderful company he would be missing out on.

I wholeheartedly, enthusiastically second that. Is there a Costco in Singapore or do we have to hitch across the border to get some paint brushes?

:-: Who needs a free upgrade

@:-) OK

As the recipient of SWUs in previous years, and no luck trading the soon expiring ones I have, I've decided to...

... offer a SWU or 3 to needy SIN DOOers

Being established and with status shouldn't be the most important criteria, but I sure like gifting to people I know will clear and that aren't trading away to others.
Preference may be given to UG's that can clear immediately or that are HUGE amounts of distance travelled.

Sean - While I can't use the SWU's,,,,(since I'm already upgraded! ),,,,It is certainly a very generous offer, and I hope that it will convince someone to join us!!!

Best wishes, Dave

We are thinking about going to Kuala Lumpur after this party. Does anybody have any advice on how to get there and what to do when we arrive?

1) Fly "F" on SQ outbound (making sure to arrive early enough to enjoy the SKL F lounge.
2) Fly "F" on MH return (making sure to arrive early enough to enjoy the MH F lounge in KL
3) Visit the center of KL, and the Batu Caves (sic?),
4) Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy!! (BTW: your R/T airfare for the above flights should be approximately 180$)

Best wishes, Dave

Very easy. SQ and MH offer many flights daily. I think it's cheaper to book one ways. Go up on SQ and then come back on MH. I did something similar in November when I went to KUL DO. It cost $150 SQ F SIN-KUL. Y was $120. The nice thing with buying F is you can overnight in the SKL The flight time is short, but you'll still get a continental breakfast on the SQ flight. I would have taken MH from KUL-SIN, but my friend had to fly SQ so we flew SQ. If you're doing F on MH I think the fare is about $120. I flew SQ in Y and it was < $100. Paging cawhite or the other KUL DO attendees.

After you get there? Shop, eat, shop, eat...

BTW, on your return it will require an overnight in SIN as the SQ/MH flights get in after all the UA flight have left Asia.

It is truely amazing how low these fares are. And to get them into F at that, even if it's a short flight.

Easiest and most comfortable is to fly F SQ SIN-KUL and MH KUL-SIN. Saves a few dollars over SIN-KUL-SIN and get the best lounge at each airport. Flight itself is short - can spend almost as long on the ground as in the air.

Depending on where you are staying in KUL as best transport when arrive. If hotel near Sentral then take the express, and either walk to hotel or short cheap cab ride. If further away probably better off taking cab all the way. From the airport its fixed fare based on zones.

Someone paged?

Advice: Don't buy a roundtrip ticket SIN-KUL-SIN. Spliting the ticket will save you approx US$60.

Checked the prices of the tickets a few days ago:

SIN-KUL SQMH F/Y : S$266 / S$207

KUL-SIN SQMH F/Y : S$192 / S$152

SIN-KUL-SIN SQMH F/Y: S$531 / S$413

Thats why I took a coach up to KUL (S$32) and flew back on MH F (and visited the MH KUL F lounge). Cheaper than SIN-KUL in Y class!!!
