MRT Advice, Please!

At this point, I think I will try to use the MRT to get around in SIN. Could someone please let me know the nearest MRT stops to:

The Conrad (for Sat night dinner meet-up)
The Sheraton (for Safari and other activities)

Any approximation of walking time from the MRT stop to the location would also be appreciated.

Is the No Signboard in Geylang close to an MRT stop?

See you all next week!

Can answer at least this question!!! The nearest MRT to the Sheraton is Newton Circus, which is approximately 2 minutes walk,,,,,,but only if you walk very very slowly!!

Best wishes, look forward to meeting you on the flight over!!! Dave

I don't recall with the Conrad (but know that somebody will ), but the station closest to the Sheraton is Newton. It's about a block from the Sheraton.

Guess I asked too soon

I found this site http://www.can.com.sg/ - it does a great job of finding the nearest MRT stations to points of interest...

Conrad - City Hall MRT (641 meters)
Sheraton - Newton MRT (194 meters)
No Signboard Geylang - Aljunied MRT (399 meters)

Thanks!

From the Conrad to City Hall MRT you can walk a good chunk of the way via the air conditioned underground malls that snake from Suntec to City Hall. It usually takes about 10-15 minutes.

Two Newbie Questions...

I think, from what I've been able to find, that our best bet is to hit an ATM machine at SIN to get S$. We'll be arriving at 1:30am (YAWN!) on 1/12, and staying at the Ritz Carlton.
We'd love to see the Night Safari, but we'll be flying home on the 15th, so can't go with the group. I can't find a place on their website to make reservations, and we're not sure which is the best way to go...the cocktail safari? (One cocktail?)...or just go there? From what I've read on Trip Advisor, the best way to go is by taxi. How am I doing so far?

Correct. There's an ATM just before customs at SIN.

Just grab a taxi and go. No reservations needed. If you want to drink while you safari, they sell expensive beers there. It's not really a drinking event, but the resourceful FlyerTalker can make any event a drinking event.

bseller,

Roger that. For time's sake right now I have added him to the various event pages. Much easier than the Itins. page update. Tell him welcome aboard for us.

City Hall MRT is about 10~15 mins walk away from the Conrad, and that's assuming the human traffic doesn't hold one up

Newton MRT is right next to the Sheraton.

No Signboard Geylang is walkable from Aljunied, about an easy 5 mins walk.

By the time UA flight gets into SIN, the only public transport option is by taxi (~$25-30) or the maxicab which IIRC is about S$7~8 per person for any hotel in downtown.

There are several ATMs located in the central areas of both of the terminals at Changi, and as Spiff mentioned they're easily available before heading down the escalators to the Customs area.

(Few, those are the bank machines where you insert your plastic card and get cash from your bank account, and yes, even if the machine isn't operated by your bank)
