I get to Sydney mid-morning on the 20th and fly to Cairns mid-morning on the 24th. If anyone is in Sydney and wants to hang out, please PM me.

Thanks

Sorry folks - I haven't logged in FT for some time and this event only beeped my radar this morning when a friend drew it to my attention.

As a Cairns local and co-consigliere for the organising team of Oz Fest 06 (2009), I would be pleased to answer anybody's queries about our wonderful local sights, including stuff you won't read in the guidebooks (where you have good chance of sighting wild crocodiles, how to hand feed a wild wallaby, etc). Post questions here or PM me as appropriate.

I'll also aim to swing by the Hilton drinks.

It's great to see some names from OzFest 06 on the list - outstanding effort.

Wishing all an amazing OzFest and congratulations to the organisers for arranging a great program of events.

I have made it to SYD. Took a rattle trap taxi from the airport. $125 AU seems like a lot to me but what do I know? Now to plan some things to do in the next 4 days. Great flights ANC-SEA-SFO-NAN-SYD. 34 hours total. Time for a nap!

Here is the official SYD Airport info for taxis - note option to prebook and list of companies / contact numbers.

There is also the train into the city from both the international and domestic terminals

Still waiting for a reply from Swyftx, asked to email them after I had set up an account.

A lions shop voucher would have been much better.

Also changed from flying up on Qantas to flying on Virgin Friday night same flight as QF WP

Weather looking ok Saturday and Sunday both 20-26c or 68-78F depending on the app you use, maybe a chance of rain on Friday.

I did a dummy booking on Uber and it was under $50. Scam driver who used the regular pickup line is my guess.

I understand that it's closer, but from the Four Points in July 2022, it was only about A$40 at most at an off peak time.

I'm a big fan of Route 420 to Mascot (or walking if I don't have much luggage and the weather is decent).

One time I walked from the Hilton in Adelaide all the way to ADL!
