Hope you make it Graeme. It will be a treat to see you again. :)

GK Jun 3, 2004 3:36 am

I am pleased to confirm that both Sean and I will be attending.. Looking forward to it. :)

We arrive on Fri afternoon on LH from LHR, and go back early Sunday evening. Staying at Four Points. See you all in a few weeks.

Herzlichen Dank bernie for all the work you put into this Do - it sounds wonderful and I'm very much looking forward to it.

And great to see that GK & Sean are in too!

The crowd grows. ;)

I have to admit it.

This thread is killing me.

Not only am I a big jazz fan but I travel yearly to Wuppertal (right next to DUS) on business. I would love to be able to make it to this meet!

But, having just returned from a month in the States and Europe, prudence dictates that I stay at home for a while TCB. :(

However, if any of you are over your beer hangovers by Nov. 20 and wish to attend a meet in Venice on that day, maybe you can fill me (and the others attending) in on the festivities along the Rhine.

Just bumping this up cuz a few folk said they may be over there around that time & wanted them to see itinerary.

Also, so that when Bernie gets a free moment, he can post where we're meeting for drinks and/or dinner on the Thursday for those of us arriving that day. In fact, being the mathematical genius that I am (not), exactly at this moment timewise 2 weeks from now we'd be at said place for the pre-Dus Do Do (no I didn't mean doo-doo!).

Looking forward to seeing everyone. Cheers.

monitor Jun 10, 2004 1:02 pm

For us, LH declared that if we wanted to go using miles, we would get to DUS on Wednesday.
That leaves us with an extra day of R&R before any pre-DUS Do activities and we will certainly be ready to participate on Thursday.

Depending on train duration - I should be in DUS around midday Friday I am staying at Four Points, so if you guys or anyone else wants a pre-Dus un-official pre-Duss lunch, please leave a message for me at Hotel - Glen Stephens. :p

I arrive into AMS Schiphol from Alaska at 8.10am on Friday 25th. Will catch a train to DUS. I will go back DUS-AMS Schipol am on June 28. Anyone know if there is any deal on doing that round trip to AMS Schiphol cheaper than simply booking it on line with Die Bahn?

I do not read any German but see this on Die Bahn website and it mentions Netherlands - but do know know if that is any use to me?:

Europa Sparpreise

http://www.bahn.de/pv/view/angebote/...angebote.shtml

Die Fahrpreise ermäßigen sich für Reisen in die Länder Belgien, Dänemark, Italien, Kroatien, Luxemburg, Niederlande, Österreich, Polen, Schweiz, Slowenien, Tschechien und Ungarn um 25%. Besonders günstig wird das Reisen nach Belgien, Dänemark, Luxemburg, Niederlande und Tschechien.

Maybe there are special cards or deals that apply? If so FlyerTalk is THE place to ask. My email is [email protected] :p

Glen, here's the information in English:

Note the conditions at the bottom of the page, i.e., minimum 3 day advance purchase, Saturday night stay, etc. Hope this helps!

Two Weeks To Go - Update Costs

As of now (depends on how many finally show up) total costs are some 125 - 130 €.

This includes

Friday Tram Ride + dinner stop ("paella dinner" + drinks)

Saturday River Cruise + cake + coffee + softdrinks on board
Saturday Jazz Event + buffet dinner
Drinks at this event go seperate as does beer on the cruise.
Prices are per glass and are very reasonable. You keep you own track and pay me at the end or when you (or I) will leave.

Sunday Farewell @ Bernie's + snacks + coffee + sodas + beer

Jazz Rally Button - which is your entrance ticket to all Jazz Rally events for the entire weekend (except the performances at the opera house or Robert Schumann Saal)

There is no need to send any money in advance.
I'll collect the money aboard the tram or during our dinner stop (or during the river cruise). See, I found places where you won't escape ... this will be the most expensive tram ride you ever had. ;)

Pls. email me for the cost, if you don't participate in all events.
