Hello Everybodyyyyyy!!!!!

I finally decided to join this forum...

I finally gave into AMEX last year when they offered me 40,000 Delta Skymiles of which 15,000 were MQMs!!! Not a bad deal for signing up!

I always fly Delta, and I don't travel for work anymore as of 2010 so I travel for pleasure. Having great friends all over makes travelling very affordable. I travel for Ferrari events or a good nightclub or rave festival. :)

Next BIG adventure is Amsterdam/Brussells for a massive rave....then head over to Paris for a few days of relaxation and sightseeing. :)

I just moved to Phoenix, so flying with Delta is always going to give me a connection for long trips but that's fine. I actually ENJOY flying and airplanes!!

Dad was an airline pilot his entire life so I grew up around planes.

My job gives me the most flexibility without being unemployed...hahah!!!:D

Loving life....and ready to fly!!!

I just went to SF last weekend....before that it had been 4 months since I was on a plane. :( Normally I travel once or twice per month. I flew 48 segments last year and made Gold again.

I am going for Platinum this year!!!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Finally registered after lurking for a while. Was in the game over a decade ago- mostly because I worked for a company where I could rack up serious points. After I left, basically stopped flying except when needed. So...got the fever again- and this is the place to be. Of note, reactivated all my old accounts- and after a decade the only points left standing are from Delta- they may not have the best valuation, but at least I can still use them...

Getting ramped up fast. Was planning to trade my car anyways- so got the AmEx Gold Open 75k for a 10 k spend (later to find out there may have been a limited 100k deal), 2 x SP for 50k @ 2k spend (we got a different offer), and an Ink to start playing the new games. Minimum spend on all cards was met with the trade in, so planning my next churn and will hang out here until that time comes. In the interim, just got the USAir Chairman card and a Club Carlson card since they are different banks- and using AP, BB/VR and Paypal conservatively to manufacture spend. Planning to go to Barbados and an Alaska Cruise next year- with Hawaii following shortly thereafter. Glad to be here.

Hi all,
I live in Orlando Fl and after lurking around decided to join in the talk.

I travel with my spouse on business and needed advice on carry-on bags. Now I'm more confused than ever.

Hoping to get some great advice from the experienced travelers!

LauraGrace42 Feb 15, 2013 9:17 am

Hi! I'm Laura and I live in Chicago. Thanks everybody for being so welcoming. I am new here. My flying is generally split between business and fun, although there is no reason not to mix the two. I am trying to learn more all the different options for miles and it seems like companies unrelated to travel are even getting into it these days. Anyway, I am looking forward to the community and to learning about how to make flying cheaper and easier if possible.

I'm Bryan - I Canadian but live in Cuenca Ecuador. We travel frequently - both for work and fun. We are travel bloggers, writing about living and traveling in Ecuador - and about travel in the Galapagos. I have never traveled with miles - but we want to figure it out. Thus far, we have only traveled in the western hemisphere - mostly north/south - from Ecuador to the Caribbean, US and Canada. I'm excited to learn/share in the forum - and see how we can fly for less.

Hi everyone!

After finding this website a few days ago when I needed information about the Aeroplan program I found the amount of information on here to be amazing...so I decided to join!

I do however have a question that I was hoping to have answered. It is regarding segments. According to Air Canada, how many segments would the following trip be?

Depart YYZ, connect through YYC to arrive in YEG.
Depart YEG, connect through YYC to arrive in YYZ.

For the purpose of the AC Altitude program this would count as 4 segments correct?

Hello all,

Name is Simon, 26 years old from Denmark. I travel all over the world as an DJ/Producer and IT-Consultan. Thank you all for the warm welcome.

Surabhi Feb 20, 2013 5:23 am

Hi all,
I am Surabhi and I am from India. I travel few places just as tourist and enjoy there a lot with friends and family. I like to travel a lot but with friends and family. I do not like to travel alone. Once I go to Bangalore alone in flight and that was my first trip by flight and that was alone. No one is there with me. I get bored all over the time.

Hello!

Hi all! I am a former frequent-flyer but still love to fly and travel. I find this site very informative as well as entertaining!

jasoninaz Feb 22, 2013 4:10 pm

Hi there

almost a year and never stopped by.

from AZ. Travel about 50 connections a year for a small photography business. This place rocks. That is all.

robbabroad Feb 24, 2013 8:12 pm

Hello

Been lurking a while, but figured I should be adding to the collective knowledge and am starting with a hello!

My husband and I currently live in Washington, DC. We've had an unconventional adventure together, but things are starting to seem more "normal" lately. My two priorities in life are frugal living/saving for early retirement (anyone follow Mr. Money Mustache?), and traveling. I'm attracted to this community as it seems to combine these two passions into one!

I spent a year backpacking through Australia/Asia in 2000, and in 2010 we took another six months off to backpack through Central American and down to Peru. Now that we finally both have "grown up" jobs, it is harder to take that kind of time off, so while we continue to save for another big trip (I'm hoping for nine months to see South America and the South Pacific), we've been concentrating on smaller, shorter but jam-packed little adventures. Heading to Disneyland this spring and Barcelona in the summer! I'd love to make the most of the info so many of you generously share so I can figure out how to do the most interesting things in the least expensive way.

Anyway, glad to be here, thanks for having me. And I hope to give back when I can!

intertexan Feb 25, 2013 8:53 pm

new to air miles world

I am a retired Canadian, newly married to a Mexica lady and we spend 6 months in south Texas, the rest in Canada. United is the main line in McAllen Tx so I am divided between United and Air Canada with Aeroplan .I am learning how to accumulate miles/points that i can use through this forum.

A Big Welcome to all the folks who have introduced themselves !!!

look around, read, read, don't be afraid to ask questions.

Welcome^

Manasota Feb 26, 2013 11:38 pm

New here, but retired PAN AMer ....still flying a lot

These days we fly back and forth TATL, simply because we live on both sides. Preferably westbound :D.... Lots of domestics within between.

As a travel agent before PAN AM, Iīm just too eager, to still find good deals and fly...

No, I donīt use my benefits. Useless today, as way to uncertain....

New sleuth aboard

Holy moley Antony!!!

I've just joined this evening and am trying to mo e around this site (it's humongous!!! on a smartphone. So this will be very short coz I'm a wiz on a computer keyboard but 1-finger typing is sooooo slow.

I found my way here via Twitter. I joined there about 1 1/2 years ago & it boggles my mind that with almost 1,100 followers I don't personally know a single one if them!

My interests are (in no particular order): social media (and all its disguises: social selling, B2B, sociall marketing, etc), phoyography, education (tho never a teacher but a systems trainer in the past), gardening, volunteering and more.

I'm a garage/estate/barn sale fanatic & am at local auctions at least 2X a week.

I love to read: newspapers, books, magazines. I prefer my reading material to be something I can rustle, fold over pages, and stack up on a footstool waiting to be read.

I've been retired for 16 years but I haven't reached retirement age yet so I'm younger than you might think

I've lived on a fixed income forever but I've finally got a passport and a credit card to build up miles. I'm clueless where I sit as to where to start building up miles, finding fair deals on planes, trains, & horse& carriage rides far from home.

I can't wait to get stamps in my passport and I hope to head to Europe via hostels sometime late this year or early next.

In the meantime I was so anxious to get a stamp in my passport that I'm heading to Montreal in a few weeks. Rambunctious redhead I am. :D

I hope this is what the administrator is looking for. If this the wrong forum I am sure it will be moved "toot sweet" to a "more better" place. :)

Morphed Mar 5, 2013 6:34 am

Hi all - wanted to introduce myself.

Have been reading for the best part of a year, finally signed up.

A bit about me
Live in London, England, love trying new and interesting hotels, the W brand pretty much categorises my style, I hate boring hotels.

Hilton/SPG Gold/ One World Sapphire (Courtesty of SPG plat)

Only fly ~ 8 times a year.

Just ordered some FT tags - some and say hi - spending half my life at Heathrow T5 this month.

ahomebodywhotravels Mar 6, 2013 3:52 pm

Hello & Thanks!

I stopped by this site out of desperation. I have several family events that I want to attend. For me, it was just too far to drive and too costly to fly, rent a car and a place to stay for all 4 events. It was breaking my heart to choose one over the others.

I have been reading for weeks. Today I took a chance and was approved for 3 rewards credit cards. I was so excited, I went to the mall and walked and walked until I was exhausted.

I made a mistake in my planning. It was just all too blurry. (And still is, for that matter.) But I caught myself before going too far into it. As they weren't the cards that I had so carefully planned out, I am not even sure where I stand. But I am sure it will make all my trips possible, albeit, shorter than I had hoped.

So, thank you all for your wisdom and your generosity. I still have lots to do, but this is amazing.

A day late, a point short Mar 7, 2013 6:39 am

Been a lurker, finally posting...

Thank you for all the insight on this board. There is a lot of valuable information on here and I have been looking on and off since I had to use telnet to gain internet access from my dorm room.

I'm notorious for making it to a top tier status only to have the airline add another tier (thanks Emirates) or better yet, the airline goes out of business (too many to remember). Been traveling internationally since I was a wee lass. Picked up the speed with my first job and lived out of my suitcase since then.

Mother is from a tiny village in Greece. I'm from a tiny village in NYC. Love to travel off the beaten path (Cuba, Sri Lanka, Random Islands in the South Pacific, etc..)

If anyone needs advice on traveling for business or leisure, I'm more than happy to share my experiences and help in any way I can.

Thank you,
Ms. A day late, A point short

Former Lurker -- New Member

I've lurked on the site for a while and finally decided to register.

Newbie when it comes to FF programs, but a member of AA One World, BA Avios, and Amex.

Travel mostly for fun; a couple times a year to Florida where we have a vacation home, Europe maybe every 2-3 years.

Going to southern Africa next year so I want to get a bit smarter about using my points for upgrades or fares on such a long flight.

Other hobbies include cooking, wine, hockey, scuba, guitar, foreign languages.

So that's me.

-- Chris.

Gamecock Mar 10, 2013 12:26 pm

To get to southern Africa may provide some challenges. I can't see where you live from the mobile app, bit getting to that part of the world from the US on OW requires getting to Europe first. Take my word, that is a tough flight. And once you get there you are limited as to where you can on a OW ticket.

First time joiner, long time reader. Great site.

Live in Asia, enjoy travelling to different destinations.

terte Mar 12, 2013 7:36 am

I've been reading on the forum everynow and then for a while, but only registered now. I'm frequent flyer on three airlines, and just got around to get information on Miles and More e-vouchers to see if they can be exchanged for miles or validity extended since I got some about to expire.

I also hope I can contribute something to the forum.

Newbie to the forum, so "Hi Everyone!"

retired granny; love to travel ANYWHERE [almost! ;-)] with my main man for almost 50 years.

1phatred Mar 13, 2013 6:21 pm

Hope this is where I can post a couple of questions. If I'm wrong, please someone tell me NICELY ;-) where to go.
1. Flying on KLM... YYZ to BCN. Will my standard 'Walkman type' mini jack headphones work?
2. What's the most economical and reliable way to get from the airport to the cruise pier and reverse pre/post cruise?

Appreciate your input. Tks!

Hi. I've just joined up today. I live in a small country town on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, a lovely if dry spot near the beach. I work in a different town about 20km away and fly about every 5 years. It's interesting to read about peoples' experiences when flying.

We're flying home to the UK in July for a few weeks, and we decided to go business class to fully immerse ourselves in the experience (originally flying Malaysian as KLM, but switched to Emirates when they upped the ticket price by $1500 each before we could pay for them).

Hi everybody; am a newby; am in Queensland Australia; planning a RTW trip from march 2014-march 2015, hopefully a AONE4...trip of a lifetime.
Buying AONE4 from Sydney is $18K++, Auckland is $14K++, but I see buying from Seychelles is currently cheapest on list since Sudan been "found out" since November and prices quadrupled! Wondering if anybody is/has tried buying ticket from Seychelles?
I liked the route AndersB planned which will give him two trips to Europe and two more shorter ones within ANZ within the 12 months.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated;

Hi
Welcome to the forum

Better to ask *ONE* questions here:- http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onewo...cket-faqs.html
There is no OneWorld service in the Seychelles so you cannot but tickets. Is an error still being listed.

Hi. I am Robin aka MactasticMendez. I'm a software test analyst for a company that makes financial applications. I'm 23 and live in the north west UK and started collecting virgin air miles 8ish months ago with a goal of upgrading our flights this summer from economy to premium for me and my parents and sister. So far I'm up to 30k miles and have come here to find out the best ways to boost my miles further and maybe share what I have done to earn 30k as a family with only a one way Econ flight to NYC to start my points off.

I and a big geek and hobbys are sun, gym, cinema, gaming, computers and I would love to travel which I hope to be able to do with my new job.

Hi Philip from Montreal YUL - I have been a member for a while and I am finally getting around to introducing myself. Love the monthly e-mails and stories from around the world.

I travel by trains, planes and automobiles! Medical sales for 20 plus years mostly in Canada, but with the odd trip to USA and Europe.

Your message on Hotel Pet-Peeves has finally forced my hand!

Those darn curtains that let the light in - Just give me a large bath towel all by itself beside the shower, keep the small towels and facecloths away! - and please no small round soap holders in the shower, shampoo falls off, razor falls off = FAIL

I will re-post these peeves in the other forum as well :)
